I'm probably going to regret asking you this, but what would you say Garrett does well?
You say this offense isn't terrible and that Garrett isn't the awful coach we make him out to be, so I'd like for you to tell me what is you think he does well as an offensive coach.
In the past he has been very good at getting his offenses to produce yardage, and my theory was that the lack of points were a result of poor run blocking and too many OL penalties in the redzone.
I think I was actually 100% correct on that, in that we've seen an uptick in red zone efficiency this year... when we get there.
But we've clearly regressed in the consistency moving the ball over the last 2 seasons and I don't have an explanation for that, entirely. Assuredly some of it is the coach's fault. Some of it is that I do think Romo is not having a great year, and some of it is that the OL still isn't great. In the past I had put it at 75% personnel, 25% coaching, I'd say it's not that same ratio anymore.
And I've said I'd support a coaching change because of it.
I also can't help but point out who has been the official offensive coordinator the last 2 years when we've seen a real increase in the struggles of the offense in moving the ball consistently, that being said, it's Garrett's obligation to fix that and he hasn't.
