I see.Duke has, for the better part of the past decade, been wildly overrated. They got three of those championships between 1991 and 2001, but the 2010 NC was a complete abberation and a product of them facing the easiest road to the the title I've ever seen, personally.
Even giving them credit for that, on a year-in, year-out basis they are always ranked higher than they deserve to be.
If you were to compare them to now? Yes. But that's how it was then, it wasn't an aberration.I see.
Hey guys, UCLA won a ton of titles in the 70's but the playoff field was half as big as it is now. Too easy. OVERRATED!
Maybe the 2010 abberation is all the teams that lost to the perceived lesser teams are the overrated ones. Not Duke's fault they are the only one's who could beat Butler. If you were to compare them to now? Yes. But that's how it was then, it wasn't an aberration.
Unlike 2010.
I think that's my point.... it was the weakest crop of NCAA Tournament participants within memory. Every team sucked.Maybe the 2010 abberation is all the teams that lost to the perceived lesser teams are the overrated ones. Not Duke's fault they are the only one's who could beat Butler.
4 NCAA titles in 23 years.

Coach K can't read this rant as the shine from his 4 rings are blinding him.
Right. And Carolina has 4 in 27...big shit.
Duke has 7 losses away from home. Not a good omen when the Tournament isn't played at Cameron.
Bias? Other teams lose to ranked teams, and drop 5-8 spots in the polls. Duke loses to an unranked team...and drops 1 or 2 spots.
Even worse... Feb 3's AP poll. Duke jumped from 17th to 11th, but went 1-1 with a win at #18 PITT and a loss at #2 SYR at the time. Pitt is now UNRANKED, and Syr is #7
Iowa State #16, went 1-1 with a win at home against #23 Oklahoma and a loss at #6 Kansas but remained at #16. #14 Wisconsin lost to NU and Ohio State and fell out of the rankings. #11 Kentucky lost at LSU but won at MIZZ but fell to #18. #12 Louisville lost at home to #13 Cincinnati (who becomes #7) but won at home to UCF and fell to #14. Iowa #15, lost at home #7 MSU and won at Illinois and fell to #17. Since then, Duke has lost against #14 NC, beaten only unranked teams except a badly slumping SYR team...But somehow..and with 7 losses, Duke is #4?
Even better... In the past 13 years they've been in the tournament, they've underperformed for their seed 9 times. (I.E., losing in the first, second, or third round if they were the 2 seed... any round before the FINAL FOUR if Duke was a 1 seed).
Its an annual thing.
OVER. RATED.
Not just Final 4, but the title game. And they gave UConn all they could handle that game too. But overrated.Duke means more to people who hate them than people who like them. They are good every year...that cannot be disputed. BTW...that weak Butler team in 2010 somehow was in the final four in 2011.
You get lots of laughs, except the years they win it all and then you complain that their path to greatness was too easy.It wasn't just Butler, it was the entire run.
But that's neither here nor there. Oh look, Duke is ranked #4. With 7 losses.
Surrounded by teams with 2, 3, and 4 losses.
Somehow they are right at the top though.
#overrated
Carolina, who has beaten Duke, as well as Michigan State, Kentucky, and Louisville, has an identical record and sits at 14.
Which is where Duke should be if they weren't overrated every single year. Even with their inflated tournament seeds, they usually bow out by the sweet 16, so it's not all bad. We get a lot of laughs.
No doubt my hate for Duke is stoked by being a Carolina fan, but I think Carolina is right about where they need to be.It is not really about Duke, it is about how UNC is not getting the love you think they deserve.
