Linehan and Garrett still in charge. I don't think the new WR coach designs plays.
He has input. Not saying he will run the offense but we need someone with enough balls to tell Linehan and Garrett that they are predictable as hell.

This is actually a decent enough deal in terms of guaranteed money. Goof Son finally figured that contract thing out?

Yeah it's actually cheaper than I thought. Not a bad deal at all. If it doesn't work out he can be cut after one year. If he does great we have him cheap for another year.

Been a long time coming if true. Sure would be nice if he has though.

Yeah the Cowboys are making the most of their cap space while spreading the risk.

I can’t get over how outrageous Watkins’ deal was. Hurns and Thompson for a fraction of the cost is just a lot smarter.

The guy just fell into our laps. Not sure anyone expected him to be cut. For all we know, Thompson was gonna be their answer at that position. Sometimes it's better to be lucky ...

I love the signing but I'm still trying to figure out how we are going to make this receiver group work. Seems like we have a lot of veterans and no youth. I think someone has to go but the insistence on keeping Bryant makes me wonder how we will use Hurns. Seems like a lot of his strengths are similar to Dez's strengths.

Given the cap savings with Beasley, he could be dumped.

I think someone is out the door but I guess maybe they are waiting for the draft to see what happens. You get Ridley and Dez is out the door. You get a middle round receiver and you dump Beasley.

Anyway, I have to imagine there is more to play out. I don't think we could stand pat the way things are.

More importantly, who wears #88 this season
I think I read somewhere that Hurns is okay with not wearing 88.

Some of those highlights from that clip weren't bad, he doesn't seem to be afraid to go over the middle and holds onto the ball even when he knows he's going to get hit. A couple of those sideline routes, he could have picked up more yards if he could have gotten his feet set. That could have been momentum though.

Switzer is not ready to take on this weird niche role we’ve decided must be part of the offense, so no we keep Beasley.

I also don’t think Hurns is going to magically stay healthy. Need to be prepared to keep six WRs on the roster.

New Cowboys wide receiver Allen Hurns went on SiriusXM NFL Radio with Bruce Murray and Brady Quinn on Monday and talked about his decision to come to Dallas. Here are some highlights.

Tell us about the decision and signing with the Cowboys.

I'm very excited. Choosing Dallas, felt like it was a great situation for me opportunity-wise. Other teams offered me more [money] but I felt like they [the Cowboys] have a great young team. I got along really well with the coaches. ... I feel like this opportunity is going to be the best for me.

Why did your numbers go down last season?

It's a number of reasons. To start off, I missed 11 games in the last two seasons. As far as the NFL, you've got to be available each and every week. Also, if you look at the tape I primarily played slot [last season] whereas the first two years I was on the outside and slot. So that's why I'm excited about this opportunity, getting the chance to play on the outside as well. I'm not just a slot receiver. It's a mixture of reasons, but I'm just excited for the new opportunity here with Dallas. Hopefully me and Dak can get on the page. He reached out to me and we're excited to work together.

What other teams were in the mix?

The Jets, the Ravens and the Browns.

What was deciding factor?

Main thing for me was opportunity. The Jets' quarterback situation is up in the air. Same with Cleveland, yeah they've got Tyrod [Taylor], but you never know how things are going to play out over there. I felt like Dallas knew what they wanted to do as far as the offensive situation. Dak's gonna be there. You've got Zeke [Ezekiel Elliott] coming back. I'm excited to play alongside Dez [Bryant].

Did opportunities to play on the outside factor in your choice?

It really did. If it was a team that was just going to have me on the inside, I probably would have turned that down no matter how much they offered me. This is a big year for me going forward in my career. We all know my last two years weren't the best. So I felt like the best opportunities were for me to play on the outside and inside. That was a big step. I needed to know what a team's plan was as far as bringing me in.

You've been in Florida most of your life. Will you survive out in Dallas?

I'll be fine. I've been in Florida most of my life, but I'm embracing the opportunity. Since I've been a free agent, the Dallas fans have been showing nothing but love. I'm excited for the fans out there.

What do you know about Dak? What's in the plans before OTAs?

Just getting on the same page as far as getting in and watching film, seeing certain things. He reached out to me and we talked a little bit about what to expect from each other and how we're going to push each other and things like that. Dak's a guy going into his third year, feels like six years for him. He had a great first year, last year he had to deal with Zeke going out and things like that. The best thing about the NFL, no matter what you did last year, you've got to show what you're capable of. So I'm excited to work with him. It's a great opportunity for us both, also Dez.

How do you feel about going into a WR room with a lot of strong personalities like Dez's and Terrance Williams' or Cole Beasley's? How do you see yourself fitting in?

I love it. The main thing for me that I went over with my teammates is going in and making plays. I feel like us having depth, it's going to be nothing but love and we're gonna push each other. Those guys, they've reached out to me. As far as right now, I haven't felt any hate or anything like that. ... So I'm excited to get in with those guys.
