A few interesting nuggets listening to these jackasses talk:
-Obviously Jerry is completely full of shit about 97% of the time, but one interesting thing that he said, which I believe was actually a genuine comment, was that he isn't as willing to gamble on character/off-field risks in the draft. I don't believe he was saying injuries, but character/personality/work ethic stuff, which I think lines up with some of the stuff Schottenheimer has said about prioritizing character in the draft.
-We aren't going to do shit in FA despite what nonsense comes out of these fools mouths. Towards the end Stephen even threw out the "being efficient" line with regard to FA. They'll extend Williams, franchise/extend Pickens, extend Clowney, and then maybe bring back a few ancillary pieces (Houston, Fowler, etc.) and call it a big investment. The absolutely most I could see them doing is something like a 3/30 deal for Quincy Williams if we bring in former Jets guys on the defensive staff.
-Schottenheimer threw out the "playing the best 5" on the OL with regard to Tyler, which I thought was good to hear. I'm curious to see what they do with Steele but I think Guyton is definitely on thin ice. I think they're still holding out hope that he steps up but I think the leash will be very short when they have a somewhat competent guy like Bass who can play LG.
-Jerry went on again comparing how "let down" we were by the secondary this past year to how "let down" they were by the OL after 2024 which he said directly resulted in taking Booker in the 1st. He did mention safety as well as corner, but I think you can confidently pencil in CB with one of the two picks unless Downs falls to 12, assuming they'd take him. I doubt they'd go Downs and then CB with the other pick.
-Jerry admitted that they thought using Bland in the slot didn't go as well as they thought, that makes me wonder if they target someone who can play both outside and in the slot, Delane probably making the most sense in that regard. Terrell would also make a lot of sense with the second pick.
-Sadly DE/edge seems to be an afterthought behind LB/DB, at this point I'd be surprised if we took one in the first unless we sign a somewhat significant FA (lol) at LB or DB.
