Why bother with the scrimmage then? I fully believe it though. Sounds like EZ for example was almost exclusively bull rushing during the scrimmage. Which made zero sense but now it is clear why.

WTF does playing with a 7-iron mean? I don't golf.
You get 14 clubs... it means he was playing with only one club. Not using everything he could have used.WTF does playing with a 7-iron mean? I don't golf.
Sounds like that annoys you.You get 14 clubs... it means he was playing with only one club. Not using everything he could have used.
And BTW, you don't "golf" as a verb, you play golf. Just saying...

I have only golfed a couple of times so did not get the reference either. You get 14 clubs... it means he was playing with only one club. Not using everything he could have used.

I do think it's funny he got pissed off at some point and had Milton uncork that bomb.I'm skeptical of an after the fact explanation that they're holding back. I'm sure they are, but I'm guessing the Rams more or less are also.
I do buy that there would be an adjustment period for the new coaches on both sides of the ball.

But holding back is nothing new. Some teams hold back their playbook all preseason long. Some teams go all out in preseason and open the whole bag of tricks. I honestly think the impact of either strategy is minimal at best. But it leads to some undefeated preseason teams that fans get excited over only to be horribly disappointed during the season. (I think Steve Spurrier with the Redskins was one) And it leads to winless preseasons for other teams. Basically it's a long winded way of saying don't read much into the scrimmage or preseason.

I knew better...I've heard it used as a verb before.
Maybe even one post above this.![]()
Yeah and my preference would be to open up the playbook. Not for development purposes or that the wins somehow mean something. But preseason is great for evaluation. And if you hold everything back and just go through the motions you can't evaluate very well. You want to see if Nate Thomas is as good as you think he is or is it because he has been going up against a hobbled Sam Williams and Kneeland during practice? You want to see if Mingo is actually making a step forward for the third WR position or if it's because he has been going against Booth during practice. Our preseason games are going to be excruciating to watch this year.
Tolbert has followed up a promising season last year with a dog shit of a camp so far ….That's why I don't like Tolbert. What is doing just jogging up there like that when they're wearing pads?
This guy allowed it.
For some reason, I like what Schottenheimer’s kid, Adams and Riley are talking about and the technical fashion. It is a lot more open and honest.
