What the Eagles have that we don't, among many things, but first and foremost, is the league's best GM.

As we know from Tex Schramm, the best GMs get rings.

In this day and age, the best combo is great QB and good GM, but if you don't have the great QB, the great GM has put together the best franchise in the last 20 years without an elite QB at any of that time.

I wake up angry at the Jones’ and wanting us to go 0-17. While other teams make real plans and real transactions, we just get smug you-can’t-touch-us remarks. Fuck em

A year removed from three straight 12-5s, us fans don’t take comfort in them, but that’s what Jones’ cling onto. We don’t need regular season wins. Fuck it. 0-17 until a real GM

‘Hope we win in spite of Jones’ has achieved nothing except make the Jones’ richer than they could have ever imagined.

Roseman only became the GM around 2008ish I think, so he didn't really build the early 2000's teams, but I get what you're saying.

Barkley is also going to fall off a cliff sometime during next season, when you include the playoffs he had a little over 480 touches.

I'm pretty sure that's damn near the highest a RB has ever had in a single season, so good luck with that moving forward.
Eagles will find a way to get Jeanty.

Eagles are so consistently good because they worry about both sides of the trenches first and foremost, then they fill in around them with good drafting and great FA pick ups.

Watching their defense makes me more bullish on drafting Jeanty.

They didn't blitz a single time last night and their defense is predicated on playing shell coverage with a mix of zones, and letting the DL tee off to get pressure with just 4. It's all built on the assumption that teams won't be able to consistently drive 10-12 plays and making QB's complete tight window throws while the DL is solely focused on getting to the QB.

Eberflus is going to run something very similar actually.

But in my opinion the way to beat that is with a strong downhill running game, you have to make them pay for being comfortable sitting back in coverage and going with light boxes. A running QB could do some of that but I think you need to get downhill on them before their LB's/DB's can rally on slower developing RPO's and such.

It's not a coincidence that the team with the best RB (Rams) that they played in the playoffs is the one who nearly knocked them out.

So many moves worked in their favor

  • JAG Zack Baun from Saints becomes All-Pro.
  • Immature Jalen Carter develops into All-Pro to replace Fletcher Cox
  • Both Cooper DeJean and Quinyon Mitchell solid in rookie years
  • Saquon Barkley stays healthy
  • Jordan Mailata makes transition from rugby to become All-Pro
  • Cam Jurgens sufficiently replaces Jason Kelce
  • 1st round bust Tackle Mekhi Bechton with Jets changes position to LG and develops into solid player
  • Vic Fangio

It's basically Fangio, the fact that they have one of the best OL coaches in the league, and that they got a peak/all-timer (and likely last gasp) season out of Barkley.

But even when Barkley falls off a cliff they'll be responsive to that and make a shift the following season, as opposed to the dullards running this team who prefer to just sit on their hands until they get smacked in the face with reality.

The biggest thing going for them is that KC completely shit the bed. Play that game 10 times and I bet KC normally wins that 6 or 7 times, but they didn't even show. Like us vs. GB last year or Minnesota's playoff this year.

Give the eagles credit for getting to the big game so that could happen, of course. But don't act like that was a typical game.

Hopefully Barkley will decline, but I wouldn’t count on it. Henry is proof you can delay Father Time with modern technology and a maniacal dedication to training.

But they also got there in the first place because the best team in the conference (Detroit) shit the bed after getting devastated by injuries, and the putative preseason best team (SF) also got devastated by injuries and their season tanked.

No doubt. The path they happened to draw was about as easy as possible.

That's why I say the game yesterday was such a fluke. The Chiefs had better record in a tougher conference with much better QBs. But people who are prisoners of the moment will act like the eagles really are 34 points better than the Chiefs. It's ridiculous.

disagree.

Philly is better at almost every position except qb

and Carter is pretty equal to Jones at DT.

They got a SB win out of it so I don't think they'll care.

I wouldn't.
