Evidence is we suck at drafting defense in the first round, except maybe a CB like Byron Jones. We only lucked upon Micah after two CB's got snapped up ahead of us.

Clayborne, Taco, Trysten Hill (not 1st round but still our first pick), LVE, Mazi. We just fucking suck at building foundations on that side of the ball.

Got to go back to 2005 with Ware, Canty, and Ratliff and Parcells setting the scouting parameters.

If we only had owner who would hire a competent GM.

For the most part we don't even try to draft front seven guys high. Micah was great, Mazi a huge bust, but who else in the first couple of rounds in the last several years, Trysten Hill?

We just need to devote the picks to it. Preferably with a new DC.

At least we don't need anything on the OL for a while.

Kneeland, EZ, Sam Williams, Taco, they've actually sunk some resources into it.

With regard to the first 3 guys, I wonder if they'd be looking this pedestrian if say Dan Quinn was still DC.

Somehow I feel like they'd seem more promising right now. Which makes me think that coaching has a large part in what's happening. Especially when you consider that Eberflus doesn't have a big history of generating a whole lot of pressure.

OK, maybe I forgot about Sam and Kneeland.

I'm thinking of big, rugged players, though -- Inside players. I'll count Kneeland since that's more his game. Sam was a stupid Jerry pet potential pick and EZ is too early to judge, though again I wasn't really thinking lighter edge players.

Anyway.... maybe I was wrong on Burden? That move was pretty sweet.
