You guys know we're going to beat them next week right?

Probably after a bullshit limp dick performance tomorrow.

But that's how the NFL works after a bunch of shitty performances that end up as wins, plus Jurgens and Johnson probably being out.

Getting ready for work and don't have time to search the thread....so forgive me if I pull a Booze here.

But I thought this was funny as hell in a 'I'm embarrassed for you' way.

I bet that's going to be the theme today... "They just didn't give him enough help", "He doesn't have enough around him", "They didn't prepare him the right way", etc.

Our team is ass, and I'm sure most of you think I'm nuts, but I really do like the spot we're in to win next week.

The Eagles are basically last year's Chiefs, really pretty record and getting the benefit of the doubt because of their pedigree, but if you look beneath the surface you see a team that's really not that good and is a huge "regression to the mean" risk.

Just like KC they have a really good defense (after being middling to start the year) but a very mediocre offense now that Barkley is cooked, and are winning lots of games they shouldn't.

The Chiefs of course made the SB but were exposed there, and now they're 5-5 and a very average team.

Keep in mind KC should've lost so many games last year that they barely squeaked out, including one at home against Aidan O'Connell and the Raiders, so I definitely don't think winning next week is as out of the question as the average fan would think based on a surface level view of the records, etc.

It's all about tonight. If we can actually look like a competent football team (defense) then sure, there's no reason we can't beat good teams. We still have what should be, and was, one of the better offenses in the league.

But we got blown out by Denver and weren't competitive against sorry Arizona. Until proven otherwise, we're bottom of the barrel.

And if we lose tonight, it's full tank mode. We won't even have to tank, we'll just be that bad.

In the grand scheme, yea, I just don't think tonight's game has much impact on next week's and if anything I think a shitty performance/loss tonight might even increase the chances we win next week.

They won't quit on the season if they lose tonight, they won't be far from it but I think it'd set up a peak desperation game next week against a team that's worse than their record.

I dunno man, I'm with you that the Eagles aren't as good as their record, but if we lose to the Cards and Raiders in consecutive games, I don't think we can beat even an overrated Philly team.

We have very little chance against them. We have very little chance against most teams unless our defense improves dramatically.

Tonight I'll give us some slack considering it's impossible to predict how the emotions over Kneeland are going to play out.

I will say the biggest differences between the Cowboys and the Eagles the past 25 years is that the Eagles value coaching and we do not.

When you looking at the eagles defensive performance versus their talent on defense they are playing well above the sum of their parts. That's coaching. Yes they have Carter but who else stands out?

Meanwhile 3 out of our last 4 DCs have been studies in disasters.

They hired the best DC on the market, we hired a comfortable old buddy who knows his place.

These things happen in the NFL all the time, every year, and especially with division opponents.

I'm not saying we're as good as the Eagles even though I think they're basically just an above average team, but I think the spot next week is a really good one for an upset taking all things into account, including added emotion from the Kneeland stuff since that's the game when they're doing all the honors for him and such.

And I bet if the Eagles were in our position this year they'd very strongly consider getting rid of both the HC and DC at the end of the year, assuming we end up somewhere around 6 wins.

Win the next two, 5-5-1, probably just a half game or 1.5 games back of a playoff spot, only to lose the next two against KC and Detroit by a combined score of 84-30.

It is written and so it shall be done.

No question about it.

Said it 100 times but I'll say it again: if we'd somehow drafted Carson Wentz and he had that one great season, he'd still be the QB here. Jerry loves trying to prop up his mistakes as opposed to moving on from them.

Definition of throwing good money after bad, but Jerry is rich enough to get away with it. In the end that's probably the difference between young Jerry and today's Jerry. Young Jerry wasn't so rich so he had to win. Now he's so rich he can play with the team like a toy and mistakes don't really hurt him.

Probably not the HC after 1 year but definitely the DC.
