I think Harbaugh is really good at simplifying stuff for his QB. That plus it was the first preseason game of the year. It's always a bunch of guys out there not knowing what the hell they are doing. Not to take away from Lance but I wouldn't take too much away from that.
Wonder why he didn’t look good in our preseason games.

Allen was a great player. Another example of Eagles bias here that nobody wants to admit how great some of their players are or were. That guy was a fucking nightmare to Irvin. One of the few corners of the time big and strong and good enough to shut him down.
They drafted him specifically to match up with Irvin, and you are right it was a nice chess move by the Eagles. But Allen definitely shouldn’t be in the HOF over Woodson.
Plus, Woodson came back from a knee reconstruction in 4 months to play in the fucking SB. Shit, that’s HOF enough right there for me, even if he was a Steeler.

What you mentioned plus Lance struggled with the 49ers as well. Shanahan runs a very QB friendly system that's usually supported by a dynamic ground game. If the guy couldn't make it work in SF with that supporting cast and organizational support, he damn sure wasn't going to magically become a competent QB in a place like Dallas where there are more hurdles to navigate.

McCarthy is a convenient punching bag but I think it's a bit disingenuous to take a shot at him over Trey Lance's struggles.

Allen was a classic Hall of Very Good guy.

And as others have said, it seems you're confusing Allen with Bobby Taylor.

And Taylor is exactly why you can't use that argument anyway. Yes, he matched up well with Irvin, but he wasn't a HOF CB either.

He was fairly pedestrian overall. A specific matchup with one guy doesn't change that.

Bayless is a clown, but it’s a bit weird Lance goes to the Chargers and looks like a totally different QB vs what Meatball Mike got out of him.

13/20 120 yards is a totally different QB?

That translates to 65% completion percentage and 6 YPA. Against fringe at best competition last night in a meaningless game.

With us, he had a 61% completion percentage and 6.5 YPA against legit pros in actual games when defenses are game planning and scheming and whatnot.

Yeah and the one TD pass was completely set up by great field position from the fumble. I actually saw some of the same hold the ball issues with Lance in the game last night that I saw in Dallas. He just lacks that sort of timing and quick processing to step back, read and throw throw the ball quickly.

What will be interesting is seeing how Milton looks in comparison.

I'm eager to see Milton. I don't think he's the future starter like some people seem to, but I do think he's probably an upgrade over Lance and Rush.

Wasn't Milton the name of the red stapler guy in Office Space?

I can't wait to drop a meme when Joe Milton does well (or poorly).

Joe The Stapler Milton doesn't really sound too good.

Guess it could be Swingline since that was the brand of stapler.

I'm excited to see him because of the cannon and aggressiveness throwing the ball. I think he could be fun to watch in preseason. But I don't think he is pur future starter or anything.

I think Milton is a bust. From what I've seen -- and people at camp have said the same -- he makes some spectacular throws but he makes some really bad ones, too. Plus bad reads and bad decisions. He holds the ball a lot and runs too much. And we know that won't work at this level.

Nate Newton was asked about him and said there were two players he refused to call by name until they showed anything: 58 and 10.

I don't think bust would be the right word.

But I can see where his decision making can get him in trouble.

For a backup though, I think he'll be ok.

Hopefully we won't need him.

True, only a bust to those who expect him to be a franchise QB, which should never have been expected in the first place.
