We have seen Jerry Jones try to squeeze players and sometimes it works. He had Parcells with him to shake down Romo. I have no idea how they swindled Tyron Smith but they did. Sorry, not buying the evil agent angle. We have seen the same negotiation style before.

You named two players in the last 20 years. It's far more common for them to pay top dollar for players than to get a great deal on them. So Micah is begging for an under market deal and they won't even acknowledge it? I guess it's possible, but doesn't sound likely.

Dez has basically said this is what they do multiple times. I think Jerry or Stephen said recently they basically worked out Martin's first deal directly with him back in 2016 or whatever.

It's pretty obvious this is their MO.

Well I don't even blame them for that. It is true that you're the making the deal with the player, not the agent. I'd also probably remind them that the agent works for them and not the other way around, which often seems to be forgotten.

Of course if the agent persuades his client that he should do something different, there's not much you can do.

It wasn't about 6 games versus 4, it was about Jerry implying that they aren't in a hurry to pay Micah because he missed some games.

It was about them basically lying publicly, that Micah doesn't want to be paid when in reality they haven't taken his agent's calls or emails.

It's about them refusing to negotiate constantly but circumventing his agent.

Do you really think any of this isn't true? Their top stars constantly have problems negotiating with them.

They're the only morons in the known universe that think late negotiations make any sense whatsoever.

So there's no reason for me to not believe Micah's version of events

And yeah, I can see a player get his feelings hurt by all this. They're treating him like an asshole.

And if you put yourself in a players shoes the injury comment is sort of taboo to mention publicly. It's not like the guy wanted to get hurt. He didn't want to miss games. And the rehab and pain of not being on the field is more work to a guy like Parsons than actually playing. So to imply he shouldn't get paid because he got hurt is sort of offensive to him. I get it. Even though I get from the business aspect you're not going to win games if all of your money is sidelined with injuries.

Ultimately this is the Cowboys problem. Either shit or get off the pot. If you want Micah to be a cornerstone player don't fuck around with him and play games. Just get the contract done. If you don't want that, then trade him while his value is high and go and use multiple first round picks to get guys you do think will be cornerstone players.

But that doesn't create a fun circus. The Cowboys way of negotiating is just utter shit and these guys are too stupid to see it.

Jerry doesn't talk to agents. Waiter boy doesn't talk to players. So yeah its going to get awkward when Jerry tries to work out a deal with a player and then waiter boy calls up the agent to get the paperwork done and the agent is like "WTF are you talking about." And them waiter boy has no authority to actually negotiate so the thing sits dead in the water until panic sets in.

Also part of me thinks Jerry was trying to take advantage of a less intelligent player who was very loyal to the organization by going around the agent.

Across a 1,039-play sample, they're the league's second-worst defense over that same stretch by EPA per play when Parsons isn't on the field.

Even though it would be in Micah and his agent's best interest to wait until other edge rushers got deals done first, I tend to believe they did try to initiate contract talks last season.

Parsons isn't going to lie and manipulate. I 100% believe Parsons version of what he is saying. I just don't think Parsons has it in him to lie and make that stuff up.

Now the Jones boys, I can't believe a word out of their mouth ever. So I see 0 reason to believe their version of the story.
