The QB situation is why I could very easily argue that trading him is the right course of action. I wouldn't advocate for it necessarily since he's so good, but it might just be the right timing given how things have played out with Dak.

The biggest thing is the fact that Dak probably shouldn't be our QB for more than about 2-3 more years, he may already be compromised physically to begin with, and next year looks like a really strong QB class.

I also have a sneaking suspicion that Manning (or his family) are going to try to manipulate where he goes to an extent, and I could easily see Dallas being on the list, and if we have two 1's in 2026 and 2027 you could easily make that happen whether he comes out next year or the year after.

And if Dak looks great this year, you still have a million picks to build out a really strong roster with a bunch of rookie deals, while also having enough picks to invest a 1 or 2 in a QB over the next year or two.

Multiple league executives interviewed in the hours after the Parsons news made it clear that there is genuine intrigue and surprise about why Dallas takes this tactic with star players.

"They are costing themselves millions every summer," said a high-ranking NFC executive, adding that the team's apparent interest in headlines and television conversation around contract issues can't be enough for the franchise to offset the money lost.

This is what we've all been saying for years.

It's insane.

It's infuriating how stupidly they do things.

All this "disrespect" stuff from Micah is so silly though. He wants out because half-senile octogenarian Jerry said he was hurt for six games instead of four? And because Goof Son said he has to want to be paid? (And for which GS reportedly apologized.)

Come on. If Jerry called him up and said here's 42 per year all guaranteed, he wouldn't care about that one bit.

If everything happened exactly like Micah claimed, obviously this is 100% on Jerry. But somehow that doesn't pass the smell test, at least to me.

It wasn't about 6 games versus 4, it was about Jerry implying that they aren't in a hurry to pay Micah because he missed some games.

It was about them basically lying publicly, that Micah doesn't want to be paid when in reality they haven't taken his agent's calls or emails.

It's about them refusing to negotiate constantly but circumventing his agent.

Do you really think any of this isn't true? Their top stars constantly have problems negotiating with them.

They're the only morons in the known universe that think late negotiations make any sense whatsoever.

So there's no reason for me to not believe Micah's version of events

And yeah, I can see a player get his feelings hurt by all this. They're treating him like an asshole.

Fuck the Joneses.

It's hard to say, I'm sure Parsons would be happy to take a 4-year deal averaging 42, but the throughline here is the team manages its contracts like a bunch of amateurs and they finally pissed off a guy who doesn't have a filter, so here we are.

I have no doubt that this isn't too dissimilar from what they've done in the past (Elliott, Lawrence, Dak, etc.), maybe aside from the extent of whatever conversation he had with Jerry a few months ago, but ultimately they've been dumb as fuck with this stuff for years.

Exactly.

Saw this on Reddit.

Over the last four years, the Cowboys are the league's best defense with Micah Parsons on the field by EPA per play.

Across a 1,039-play sample, they're the league's second-worst defense over that same stretch by EPA per play when Parsons isn't on the field.

Of course fuck the Joneses. That isn't in question.

But yes, I do doubt that everything went exactly like Micah said. Not that he's a liar, but I seriously doubt his agent would even go about things like that. Maybe I'm wrong, but it just doesn't smell right to me.

What I can believe is his notoriously tough agent saying we're waiting until all the other edges are done.

Like what? Maybe I missed something but the agent doesn't seem to have done anything wrong, just tried to contact them and got stonewalled.
What I doubt is that Micah was practically begging for a below market contract and the team didn't even care. And even if Micah told his agent that, do you think the agent would just say, sure Micah, you're the boss, take less money than you could get? I don't. That's not how these guys work. It would hurt his own rep in the business as always getting the max, etc.

I mean, hey, I guess it's possible. Maybe we're in scabbed-over skin cancered Al Davis land. But we've only heard one side of the story.

We have seen Jerry Jones try to squeeze players and sometimes it works. He had Parcells with him to shake down Romo. I have no idea how they swindled Tyron Smith but they did. Sorry, not buying the evil agent angle. We have seen the same negotiation style before.
