You can't just assume that we could get a 1/3 for a guy like Lawrence circa 2019ish, I highly doubt anybody would've given that up for him.

Maybe a 1 or early 2 but a 1/3 was not going to happen.
The guy from KC got a 1 and a 3 that same offseason.

Frank Clark?

Edit: scratch that - from Seattle TO Kansas City, the player went.

KC gave up a 1, a 2, and a swap of 3s.

It is truly pathetic. The Cowboys are McDonalds. They aren’t interested in being the best. Just growing the bottom line like most garbage pail corporations.

As I've said many times recently, it's truly amazing that they've somehow been as good as they have been over the last 10ish years. It's a testament to their drafting really, and that they lucked into another QB with non-premium resources immediately after Romo.

I think they want to win, and they want to do things necessary to win, but they aren't desperate to do so and as such won't extend themselves aggressively in the pursuit of winning. They're fine "hanging around the rim" as dumbo puts it and just hoping that things go their way one year.

Especially once the franchise tag showed us who Lawrence was, a very good player but clearly one who dialed it back once he got paid real money.

A monster deal after two successive franchise tags revealed declining production just isn't getting it done.
That scenario right there is indicative of every single “ high profile “ signing Dallas has made over the last 10-15 years …they play for the pay then they dial it back for life after football…..

They've absolutely convinced themselves that their 'break-the-bank' credit spending ways of the (now distant) past netted them utterly nothing but wasted cap space. Brandon Carr was the last straw for Stephen, and Greg Hardy was the real final last straw.

Days like an Anthony Henry, Marco Rivera, Jason Ferguson trifecta signing at the FA bell with a sprinkling of Drew Bledsoe, Aaron Glenn and Peerless Price are ancient history in Dallas.

Jerry might have actually cared about winning at one point, until it finally sunk in all he has really been good at is marketing.

Yeah, I think he realized a long time ago his way doesn't win championships unless you count the Divisional.

He's miserable unless he's front and center though. Wants to be seen calling the shots in the draft and FA. Needs to give press conferences like he needs oxygen.

Truly a pathetic study in an overinflated ego that needs constantly stroked even in his 80s.

I haven’t bought any Cowboys gear since he hired Garrett as the OC, in fact sold most of the stuff I did have. Fuck Jerry

Just haven’t had a ton of time. Took a job in college athletics in 2015 and once Covid hit the job got harder and busier with less money and more hurdles. Then with NIL, and a new head AD I quit and went back to my old job.

You can feel the frustration

I suspect Micah won't be naming his kid "Jones"
I know I'm preaching to the choir but it's such a retarded way of doing NFL business.

Every year they do the same thing. Drag their feet on these big contract negotiations that ALWAYS cost the team more money in the end.

Then they have the nerve to claim poverty the following offseason. It seems like it never occurs to them that getting these contracts done early saves them money, which in turn provides them extra money to spend on free agents.

I'm fairly certain they are aware of this but have chosen to chase headlines over championships.

Yeah, to hell with that.

You're not gonna pay me less to put up even more hurdles.

How many lanes were on the track?

You mean you can’t post more seriously on company time like the rest of us?
