We do have Aikman, who is about as high-profile as it gets, pretty openly trashing Jerry and the way he does things lately, and even that doesn't matter. It just makes Jerry dig in further. Maybe an extra long look at that man in the mirror.

It's pointless at his age, he's past the point of changing, now it's just a matter of waiting out his death and hoping for the best afterwards.

Right, but it's literally just him and no one else.

If more former players were critical like Troy, I'm certain it would bring more media heat to Jerry.

He may not change, but he hates when the media questions him so if for no other reason than to make his ass miserable, I'd love to see the media come after him but for that to happen, more players have to speak up.

No, don't get me wrong, it's always disappointing to see people like Irvin and Nate and Emmitt defend him the way they do. Jerry is very smart in knowing that if he helps these guys after football, they won't trash him... and it's worked.

I remember an interview with Wade years after he was gone and he started to say some things but stopped himself at the last minute because he said Jerry was so good to him when Bum died (letting him use his private plane to go to the funeral, etc.). Same thing in his book when Wade talked about Jason getting paid the same as him and what a bad message that sent to the players -- surprise, Jerry didn't care -- but even then he didn't hit it as hard as he could have.

I'm not excusing Jerry or saying it's not a big deal to have that long of a stretch, I'm just saying it's ridiculous to pretend like simply making a NFCC would be enough to right the wrongs of the last 30 years.

It'd tide people over for 2-3 years but unless we were consistently getting back to that point it'd just be a footnote.

Making a SB might be enough but I'm not even sure of that, I don't think hardcore fans like us will be satisfied until they win another one.

I get what you're saying, but having not made it to a conference championship magnifies his colossal failure as an owner, no matter the team's worth, because he won't hire a GM.

Despite all the hall of fame talent they've drafted, not once has he built a team who could win 2 playoff games.

The teams he built as a GM and the environment he fostered as the owner failed the organization.

It's been bad but even one championship appearance could have changed the trajectory of the franchise.

Can you imagine how focused he'd be 100% on football and winning and not ego or sentimentality or anything else... complete opposite of what we have now.

We literally have no idea.

Aikman talks sense most of the time, but that is a screen personality, an illusion next to real life.

On the surface he’s just as qualified as any other GM, and he certainly has a network around the league.

Like I said, it's a marker of futility, but what I'm saying is I don't think anybody would be satisfied for more than 2-3ish years after making one.

It'd just put an end to that particular piece of futility, although I'm sure it'd quickly be followed by "haven't made/won a SB in X years".

Nobody knows whether Aikman would be good or not but he's different from the status quo, which is an obvious win. I also think he's acutely aware and even personally driven by Jerry's incompetence given how his career ended, and would want to prove a point.

Would he be capable? Who knows but I bet it'd be much closer to how much most teams operate.

I don't agree with that at all. Has he ever worked in an NFL front office? I doubt he has studied much tape, outside of when he played. To say he's just as qualified as any other GM is pretty crazy. And as far as a network? Yeah, he's talked to people around the league. But I doubt talking to people in passing or to prepare for an upcoming game is the same as a GM talking to others around the league.

Mine either. I'd rather have a proven GM like with any other position. Just saying why people would want him over idiot Jerry.

To me, that idea really got momentum when Elway was doing it for the Broncos and seemed to be doing a good job. But yes, that hardly means he'd be the best man for the job.
