There's nothing to argue.
Jerry was never competent as a GM and now he's ancient and at the end of his abilities.
Stephen is equally incompetent. He's at the height of his abilities, but he doesn't care about football or the team or winning.
Jerry, at the very, very least, cared about the Dallas Cowboys. Not because I think he was ever a real fan or wanted to amplify the greatness that Schramm and Landry had imparted, but because he loved himself and wanted glory for himself and realized that as a billionaire oilman he'd get no national glory but as the owner (and "football man,"/GM) of a nationally adored sports franchise, he'd get glory and adoration for helming them to championships.
Stephen could not possibly care less.
Stephen has disdain for the team. Stephen is a business man only. He's a capologist. He's a money mover. He's an accountant who doesn't give two shits about football. Stephen threw Jerry up against the wall to stop him from signing Deion, drafting Manziel instead of Martin, or blowing megacontracts on free agency, not because Stephen has some sort of insightful devotion to building a team "the right way" and because he's committed to seeing that through.
No, Stephen doesn't want his dotard old turd of a father to waste money on Deion or free agents, or blow a draft pick on Manziel, because it's not safe, affordable budgeting. Drafting Manziel is risky and if it doesn't work out then they have wasted money.
And what Stephen wants more than anything else is money. Money for his inheritance. Money for his offspring. Money for his other business ventures.
That's all Stephen cares about. It was probably Stephen who pushed for Parcells, because Stephen knew that Parcells was a requirement to get the goodwill to get the stadium built, which... you guessed it... would make them lots and lots of MONEY. Remember when Stephen was the one who got up in Parcells' face about who was really in charge when Parcells tried to keep the Joneses out of the locker room?
Stephen doesn't give two shits about the Dallas Cowboys winning. Stephen only cares about the Dallas Cowboys losing him money that he can use for his land holdings company.
