Decent would be a very generous grade. It was pretty awful until the end when the guys who won't make the team for both sides were playing.

Although it is hard to grade the offense when the QB is so wild. I guess on a positive there, he wasn't under siege, he just made bad decisions and bad throws. I think Thomas did okay and he might be a real find.

Yeah, it was ugly at times with Toia but I suspect he was exhausted near the end. Not used to that many snaps against this kind of competion.

But it's clear that we're screwed at NT at least early. Gonna be ugly against Philly.
Between DT and CB, I do not know where we are screwed most. At least with corner, we just need to get Gimore back. It makes so much sense, it is stupid. Now at DT, I cannot think of many options.

Yeah very decisive and physical is how I would describe his game last night. Having a LBer who can blow up a block like those is very impressive. I think he has definitely hit the weight room and gotten stronger. May be a dude who surprises in year two with a big season.

We are going to need the linebackers to really shine since the DL will not set them up for success.

If Mazi is more stout, then we are totally fucked against the run. Barkley gonna get a huge jump on 2k yards starting the year with Dallas.
I don't think we will use a NT in a traditional sense at all this year from what I have gathered. I won't be surprised to see Winfrey and Thomas logging significant snaps at the position. I think we want the NT to shoot gaps and get upfield. I don't think we are looking for a guy to 2 gap.

I'm sure Mazi and Toia will have their subpackages but I won't be shocked to see those as more rare than last year for example.

Probably so although that will likely cause its own issues.

I figured after McCarthy was gone it would take minimum 2 years to retool the roster. We had holes and no depth. Probably need another draft or 2 and smart decisions from the front office. Oh shit.

I think if we stay healthy we can surprise some people this season.

Last nights game means shit to me othet than like I said our depth needs work on.

Notre Dame on the other hand had built some very nice depth. We'll be good again if whomever wins the QB job is decent. Lloyd Carr's grandson may be the guy.

Insanely hard to build depth when you have to pay a barely top 10 QB the most money in history. A WR with a top 3 at the position contract, and a guy looking to be the highest paid non qb in history. Not to mention an OG that will be looking to be the highest paid at that position soon.

As we know, this front office just not good enough.

Draft. And FA. They can spend. They just don't.

This is not true at all. If they wanted to spend money on players they could. They just dont. All of these contracts are just funny money as far as the "cap" goes.
