What do you consider "impact"?

Because if you're talking something close to a Pro Bowler you know that's never going to happen with these jokers.

If it's just guys who you can count on to play starter snaps I think they did that with Murray and potentially Fowler or Thomas.

And that's still more than they do most years, and especially last year.
Ok well I hope I'm underestimating some of these guys because I think they're basically taking flyers on a bunch of bums and backups.

Allen, Lockett, Amari, even Diggs if you think the two of them can keep their heads straight. Having them together might even keep them both focused.
Lots of good options at the position and the Cowboys are in a great position to sign them.

I watched all of Sanborn's run snaps last year, because of course I have nothing better to do, and I feel even better about signing the guy. He's very average physically so he's never going to be a true playmaker or elite difference maker, but he's kind of the perfect steady role player who you can count on to be in the right position, hustle his ass off, and play with physicality.

The best way that I can put it is that if you put his brain into Murray's body you'd have a HOF player, because Murray has elite physical tools but kind of lacks the instincts and consistent physicality, while Sanborn lacks the elite athleticism but sees the game well and is always willing to physically take on blocks without hesitation.

He's not even that bad in coverage either, you don't want him to ever really be in a man situation because of the lack of top athleticism, but he's more than capable in zone and I saw two plays against the Vikings and Bears where he got pass deflections about 15-20 yards downfield. And of course we're going to be playing zone about 90% of the time, so there's no real concern with him being asked to play man.

I could easily see him being an Anthony Hitchens type player, very steady and consistent, not much of a difference maker, but you can throw him out there for 40 snaps a game without feeling like he's going to fuck you.

I’m going to go with Diggs…. He’s a bargain because he’s a dented can now …. Plus wouldn’t it be great for the brothers Diggs to play on the same team . You see where I’m going ..

On Lawrence again... was listening to a Nick Harris interview and he said Lawrence butted heads with Micah from the minute Micah walked in. Micah is an alpha type and apparently Lawrence thought he should always be the big dog in the room.

Just reinforces what I always thought about D-Law... some guys just give you a bad feeling and he was always one of those guys. I know he was a good player in his day, but something about his attitude rubbed me the wrong way. Glad he's gone.

That's exactly what it always seemed like.

Makes you wonder if this sort of internal dynamic ever hurt the defense's on field performance.

I think Jerry might be open to re-signing Amari. For one, the whole pandemic vaccine thing is behind us, and second, the guy won’t be costing anyone 20 mil per season. But I think Jerry would only do so if he could publicly emphasize he’d be signing Cooper ”at the right price”

Hence, he’d do it to throw Amari under a bus again and re-emphasize he was right back in 2022 when the Cowboys told the world Cooper never worth 20 mil per season under any circumstances.

Jones has ignored and never acknowledged how understaffed and lowly Cleveland clearly proved otherwise. In fact, Cooper’s YPC number leapt forward in an offense that actually didn’t dink and Dak the field.

He also never admitted and won’t admit now how Dallas changing 1000+ 8+ WR production into 16m of cap space and 6m dead cap was a failed experiment. They dumped 10m of that savings into Michael Gallup who produced next to nothing and contributed towards keeping Dalton Schultz on the franchise tag— and his production dropped possibly because a threat like Cooper was no longer on the field. Jalen Tolbert had no chance to help either.

If Jerry couches it as “correcting what in hindsight was a mistake”, I think Cooper would bite. But that would NEVER happen.

What a disaster that whole sequence was.

At least they've learned their lesson now and operate completely differently, right? :unsure

This is a bad article.

It states the reason that this could have been a steal is because Elam struggled in Zone coverages in the Bills' scheme and Dallas plays mostly man.

Uh...Eberflus is a total Zone-whore. I have no idea where they get this shit from.

It has a million guaranteed which makes him a step above Royce Freeman.
