We keep trying, we just suck. Smith and Hill suck or sucked, and to compound our incompetence we put our most dynamic player at a 60-80 pound disadvantage on the LOS vs the run when he should be pursuing and making the tackle. Our ‘big’ DE Taco was a bust, and the jury’s still out on Kneeland.

The moment we saw what Micah can do, we should have moved back to a 3-4 defense. He’s 15-20 pounds lighter than Ware and simply can’t be a full time DE.

This change would force the body type of our DL to be bigger. We might have to trade or allow Odighizuwa to leave, but I’ll take that trade if it enables Parsons. Playing 5 technique might also salvage Mazi’s career.

Parsons is a natural 3-4 OLB. Just look at what Pittsburgh does with Watt and copy it. Big but still athletic DL… around 300 pounds. Shouldn’t be hard to find.

Micah isn’t like a 266 pound Nick Bosa or 272 pound Myles Garrett. I think it all hinges on Kneeland… if he is average, then move him to SOLB and rebuild.

I think he's saying that it's not surprising that they graded poorly after watching the game. Bad wording for sure.

That's the way I took it too. Basically you saw how the other teams run game dominated us. So it's not surprising that the entire D-lines run defense score was bad. Frankly I wouldn't be surprised if anyone graded out well on defense. Was our pass defense good? I stopped watching in the second half but they couldn't stop anything. Was our pass rush good? Because I don't remember Carr ever being uncomfortable.

I can't think of anything positive out of the defense from that game. Now I didn't pay a lot of attention in the second half because it was over by then. But I can take no positives on defense at any point from what I watched of the game.

I recorded the Manningcast last night when I saw that Belichick would be on it. Watching it now, it's really good. He's a lot more candid and critical of certain players and calls than he is on those studio shows or podcasts where he's all happy talk.

Not sure when we're on Monday night, but I would love to hear him talk like this about one of our games.
