Was googling stuff about compensatory picks, and stumbled upon this little gem.

The 49ers have absolutely feasted upon compensatory picks, racking up 17 over the past three seasons, including six third-rounders tied directly to minority head coaching and general manager candidates who were hired from their staff. This year, the 49ers will receive their final third-round compensatory pick from the Ran Carthon-DeMeco Ryans hirings in 2023. San Francisco lost six qualifying players and signed four qualifiers, creating two potential compensatory picks to go with that third-rounder.

Jesus Christ. 6 3rd rounders in 3 years? Talk about having an advantage.

And what did it get them? Getting draft capital is useless if you don’t parlay them into quality. I am too lazy to look them up, but I bet there are some questionable choices.

I don't care. Just the fact they were given SIX extra 3rd rounders. To take players with. To use in trades. Whatever. It's a huge advantage.

Stole this and thought it was pretty interesting. I keep hearing that the Packers are a dangerous team to play in the playoffs. On the surface, I guess I could see that. But looking at their 11 wins? Yikes.

0-2 Colts
0-3 Titans
1-4 Rams (No Nacua or Kupp)
2-4 Cardinals
5-2 Texans (No Collins)
2-6 Jags
4-6 Bears (by 1pt lol)
5-6 9ers (Hobbled CMC no Purdy or Aiyuk)
5-7 Dolphins (Tua can’t win in the cold)
8-6 Seahawks (No Kenneth Walker)
5-10 Saints (No Carr, Kamara, Shaheed or MVS)
<<Combined opponent record: 37-56>>
I can't recall another season quite like this one where I thought that pretty much every team with double digit wins was overrated.

Some of them aren't even good teams to me and the teams like Philly and Minnesota don't look anywhere near as scary as a 13 and 14 team should.

Usually, when a team wins 13 or 14 games, they're a clear cut favorite to reach the SB and yet neither of those teams to me is anything special.

It's been a weird year.

Now lets take Jerry out of the equation....

Would you or is he basically the defensive version of McCarthey?

Ive always liked him so I probably would.

How is he a defensive guy? He was a special teams guy before Baltimore

I could swear that ten or so years ago there was some interview or something (this was before podcasts were really a thing) with both Harbaugh brothers criticizing Jerry and saying they wouldn't work for him.

Well the majority of his teams have had very good defenses so I just associate him with defense regardless of coordinators and such.

Looking at past coaching spots it's been special teams and defensive positions.

Yeah he may not be a defensive coordinator but he clearly knows defense. It's why their defense has been consistently good despite all the different defensive coordinators and players.
