Finishing with a winning record would be a great accomplishment by itself given the injuries this team has faced and under-estimation staffing RB and DT.

Obviously I'm rooting for each win in the moment, but I'm ambivalent at this point about each loss.

And the reality is, our "resurgence" has come against some bad to awful teams

Depending on what position you think Zach Allen plays Osa is either leading the league or 2nd in the league in QB hits amongst DT's.

Gonna be really cool when these broke bitches let him leave because they don't want to cough up a 4/70 contract just so they can keep broke ass Steele on the roster.

True, but we're also pulling this off with no QB, an average RB, one legitimate passing threat, and injuries all over the roster.

I'm very impressed by McCarthy's ability to both compete and also keep the locker room together in what has been a lost season since early October.

He's earned the right to return. I just hope that he uses all the leverage that he has to convince the organization to change some things if they want him to return.

I think you are right

But I also wonder if Mike is any good at manipulating Jerral. I think it's clear Quinn was very influential, but I don't get that from Mike

A head coach needs some help.

His team competed well considering that his GM ignored Free Agency until the clearance tags came out.

Everyone plays bad teams, though. There are more of them than ever in the NFL this year. It's not like anyone plays the Bills/Chiefs/Lions every week.

I'm as big a Mike fan as I think you'll find, and I don't want him to stay. Has disaster written all over it if he does.

Glad he's getting some props so he can hopefully start over with a new team, though.

If we are able to finish better than 7-10, I think it is a testament to McCarthy's coaching ability. This team was set up to fail and he's won in spite of that. Having said that, it is still time to move on from him.

Be careful what you wish for because it could/probably be a lot worse. I was ok moving on from Mike when Belichik was available. Now im not so sure. I know he is going to at least interview Moore and that scares the hell out of me.

Oh, I know. I'm absolutely sure JJ will fuck things up, whichever way it goes.

The wailing and gnashing of teeth will be glorious when the Bucktooth from Boise is named our HC.

I'll be laughing my ass off.

Yep, especially since the season has been basically lost since at least October and it would have been very easy for him to be on the massage table for the rest of the year and coast off into the sunset. Everyone assumed he was going to be gone.

And instead the team is still competing and acting like it is playing for something. There's a lot to be said for that.

They should have won their 4th straight yesterday if not for 27. And yes the competition during that run hasn't been great but they did beat Washington who isn't great but is going to be a playoff team.

I'm not so sure he's going to be gone anymore.

Exactly right. And a majority of the league is what I'd call bad on some level. Can't fault anybody for winning games that are on the schedule.

Now if someone wanted to make the argument that we're not good because we haven't proven it against a good team, that's fine that but that's not the point.

This is where I'm at. I just don't see a candidate that I'm in love with after Belichick. I wouldn't mind seeing a 2 year extension for McCarthy and see if he can turn it back around. He's kind of earned a bit of leash to be honest.
