I don't think he ever had it in the first place outside of his Jimmy Johnson years. An anonymous agent came out today and said that the game has passed Jerry by.
No shit.
Gotta feed them too.Do we really need to worry about the RB position? Rico Dowdle has kids.
Zeke I think got a little overfed...Gotta feed them too.
How does something pass you by when you never had grasp of it in the first place? An anonymous agent came out today and said that the game has passed Jerry by.
No shit.
That quote could’ve been from 20 years ago.Cowboys' Jerry Jones Ripped by NFL Agent; 'I Think the Game Has Passed Him By'
This is the key quote and it's exactly what most of us have been saying for a while: "I don't think they want to win above all," the agent said when ranking the Cowboys as the most unstable franchise in the league. "Jerry (Jones) wants to turn profits and make headlines."
It's the main reason I don't really care as much anymore, I just don't believe they're desperate to win. Of course they want to win but it's not their top priority.
Both Jerry and Stephen want to maximize revenue of course, although most of that is baked in, while Jerry wants to showboat in the media and run his mouth, and Stephen wants to tinker with his little bullshit cap games.
Winning comes after those priorities.

Well, they at least used to be negotiating forces. When they set their sights on a guy, they could talk him into coming. Think La'el Collins or La'Roi Glover. How does something pass you by when you never had grasp of it in the first place?
Very much agreed.Cowboys' Jerry Jones Ripped by NFL Agent; 'I Think the Game Has Passed Him By'

What does this even mean?
That's true, he used to at least be a salesman. I also don't remember contracts being this difficult either. Tony Romo, Tyron Smith or whoever. Guys just got signed, signed big mega long term contracts and we moved on. Now it's like pulling fucking teeth to the last minute to actually get a contract done.Well, they at least used to be negotiating forces. When they set their sights on a guy, they could talk him into coming. Think La'el Collins or La'Roi Glover.
We never even import impactful players anymore. When was the last exciting non-draft addition?
And I assume that's where the "the game has passed him by," bit comes from. That's true, he used to at least be a salesman. I also don't remember contracts being this difficult either. Tony Romo, Tyron Smith or whoever. Guys just got signed, signed big mega long term contracts and we moved on. Now it's like pulling fucking teeth to the last minute to actually get a contract done.
Maybe things were just different as a kid. But I agree, it doesn't have the same feel that it used to. Maybe it's nostalgia. Hell I don't know but the league has changed so much since then. I also think the short term nature of the NFL in its attempts for parity have created a different feeling as well. It no longer feels like teams built of core superstars. Instead you may have one superstar and then a bunch of interchangeable pieces. A great defense might be there one year and gone the next.Maybe it was because everything is new as a kid, but the league in the late 80s and early 90s seemed so magical. Guys like Marino, Aikman, Montana, just had this air of being giants about them. Teams like the Cowboys, 49ers, Bills, even lesser teams like the Giants, Dolphins, just had this mystique.
Free agency and the salary cap changed everything.Maybe things were just different as a kid. But I agree, it doesn't have the same feel that it used to. Maybe it's nostalgia. True, but even still I don't think it's a case of the game passing him by.Well, they at least used to be negotiating forces. When they set their sights on a guy, they could talk him into coming. Think La'el Collins or La'Roi Glover.

Carson now wears 21 and his nickname is seat belt. What does this even mean?
He better live up to the legend of Tony Hill.
