I get why these guys think we're all stupid. We still watch, buy merch, and attend games.

But all it really takes is to look at the Eagles and all their high paid players everywhere or Detroit and see that they are totally full of fucking hillbilly bullshit. These fucking cunts should be floating on that quarter billion boat and leave the football to the men.

He has about as much accountability as the owner or his retarded son.
True but he's at least solid at his job, he gets too much praise because things were so bad in the late 90's/2000's, but he's at least generally decent and competent.

I don't like this trend over the last few two years where the scouts are seemingly missing on the football character/seriousness of high picks like Mazi and Guyton though.

We're only about one more cheapo offseason from concluding we're owned by James Dolan and they simply aren't going to pay no matter how rich they are.

What's infuriating is how much they lie about it. Like they have no idea people have access to this information now.

All reports I remember after the draft was that Guyton was a stand up, smart kid that worked hard. With the vast majority of people being happy with the pick. Do people just claim character issues now because he had an up and down, rough rookie season?

Maybe I missed something. Do you remember these character issues that our scouting department missed? Or ignored? The only thing I remember was that he might be a bit of a work in progress because he'd be switching sides.

He did get benched at OU for a while, though the OL coach said nothing but great things about him.

Something is up, though, with the same thing happening here. Doesn't mean he's a bad guy, but something isn't right.

He was asked to do too much.

I had low expectations and he totally fulfilled them.

That's what I'm wondering. If things like this are out there, where are the character concerns that our scouts missed coming from?

And again, I mentioned that. Reports were that he'd be a work in progress. That chances were pretty good, that he wasn't a plug and play starter. That is not the scouts fault. We were hearing this before the first mini camp. That is our coaches/GM fault for putting him in that position.

Even knowing that, he was still looked at as a good pick. Yet now, when he's shown exactly what the reports claimed, he's a 'character risk' that the scouts missed on. Or hell, a couple idiots here have already outright labeled him a bust.

Hence the over the skis comment.

The OL needs a Stoutland-type to justify things.

I don't know what's going on with him. He seemed so great in camp - attitude, work ethic, everything. But he's healthy enough to play and is still behind Edoga. Makes no sense.

He made mental errors and they were gosh darn it trying to win football games here.

Their job is to uncover things that aren't national news or readily obvious to the media covering the draft. By all indications Guyton seemed fine, but there is obviously an issue when McCarthy is throwing subtle jabs at his "availability", and those are things that the scouts should be able to tease out.

Of course they can't figure out everything, and if it wasn't for Mazi the year before I wouldn't have an issue, but it's now looking like two first-round picks in a row who seem like duds in terms of toughness, immaturity, work ethic, etc.

There's still time for each of them to turn it around, and Mazi has certainly improved, but there are similarities there between the two.
