During his record breaking INT year, I recall PFF calling Trevon Diggs their #31st or #57th something absurd best CB in the NFL because they didn’t reward him performance points, saying his interceptions could’ve been expected to be made by the average CB. So they penalized Diggs for the yards given up without balancing it out with the INTs.

Yep. Ridiculous.

What I get most out of this chart is that Ezekiel Elliott is costing us $2M for the same production we could get out of a cheaper JAG. We’re not losing out on yardage per rush, but we’re paying too much for nothing extra.

I get that he's older, but I don't think the guy has forgotten how to coach and I certainly don't believe that he has forgotten how to manage a football team and build a winning culture.

As I said before, the key for him is to bring in good assistants. If he does that then he has great chance to succeed in Dallas.

Belichick will flop here just like the rest of them.

Sure, given how Lance looks you'd obviously rather have the pick than him, but it's not the sole reason they put together the ridiculous RB group that they did. It feels like they overcorrected (possibly due to analytics) after investing so much money into the position from the Elliott pick onward.

If things continue as they have been I'd guess they overcorrect in the opposite direction and take a RB in the first.

Correct, I applaud the effort to find a QB. The RB situation is a mess independent of that.

I don't think they think that as an overcorrection to Zeke. As far back as when they let Murray walk they felt that way.

They found out they were wrong with Randle and McFadden and they're going to find out they're wrong now too.

Speaking of Murray, they were ahead of the curve running the ball back then when almost nobody else was, and they were pretty successful with it. But they squandered it.

They are right in a sense that it doesn’t pay to invest big at RB. They are wrong in the sense that you still have to have a quality player, most likely a young guy. Their pro scouting and self scouting is horrific.

Right, they could have prioritized drafting a good one (hell they should have in 2023) and that would have been pretty cost effective. They weren't hand cuffed.

But I will say also that I don't think $8 million for Henry is investing big. And as I noted in another thread, there were other players with ability available in free agency that cost even less, like Singletary who has been pretty good for the Giants so far.

They could have afforded a guy, and when Jerry says they couldn't he's lying.

Maybe, but I find it impossible to believe that the team would ever look this much of a mess under Belichick as they have three of the past four games going back to last year's playoffs.

True that the RB situation is independent of that, but the Lance situation also represents lost opportunities. Not only was there a prime opportunity (that they may well have taken) to draft a RB in the 4th round that was lost because of Lance, they're also paying him $5 million dollars which could have easily been used to pay a RB in FA.

I don't applaud their efforts to find a QB because it should have been obvious to anybody paying attention that Lance in particular wasn't worth the investment, and there was no real avenue to recoup their investment in him.

Yeah, it was a pointless move. There was no long term or short term vision with it. If you want to draft a guy in the fourth round, go for it. But trading for Lance was a dumb idea considering where he was in his rookie contract. By the time he is even capable of being a backup of he develops, he is walking out the door.

Meanwhile we won't even throw a fourth round pick at a RB. It's crazy. I'm not talking first round. Not even second. But you can't spare a third or fourth round pick for a RB? It's just lazy.

Singletary, Dobbins and Moss, which I think many of us here mentioned at the time.
