Agree, and unlike right now, Trump can't run for another term. So it's a new candidate anyway in 2028. That's the biggest problem for the Democrats right now, unless Biden steps down, they don't have a good way of preventing him running for President. Even with the shitshow that was Biden's presidency, if they had a strong candidate to run for the spot (They don't that I can see) I think that candidate would have a real shot of separating themselves from this Biden mess and winning.

It's there, and has become more noticeable over the last year. The risk here is that if it resembles Biden's decline this time in 2028, the Republicans are all but handing the Democrats the White House and multiple seats in Congress.

Given the shit show that was Trump's first term which left us with rapidly increasing inflation and rising unemployment, my concern is that sore spot will come back to haunt the Republicans, especially if his second term is littered with more problems coupled with a noticeable decline in mental cognition. The public will pounce on that and put a Democrat back in office.
