I wish they'd reinstate when players would have to sit out a year if they transferred. You wouldn't see all this team hopping bullshit. Or make it that if a player accepts a full ride scholarship to a school, they have to honor it until they declare for the draft, graduate, or flunk out of school. Whichever comes first.
I always had a problem with making a kid sit out a year, but that was before NIL.
I also thought it was a BS that a kid couldn't back out once he committed to a school only to watch the HC that recruited him go to a different school before the season even began.
This was just one of many things that were really unfair to student athletes that went on for so long. As I've said many times before, I think so much of that happening over the years is what led to things going to such an extreme in the other direction.
There's definitely a balance here but it's going to require hard work to find it.
I think these guys should be allowed to transfer, but with certain conditions. Like you said, if a kid accepts a full scholarship, then he should only be allowed to transfer after no less than 2 years and if he's not starting for that current team.
If he still wants to transfer, he's got to pay something back in some way. There has to be tax here for doing so.
Also, you should only be allowed to transfer once. None of this bouncing around year to year nonsense.
Those would be the first changes I would make.
