I'm ok even if it's a short shelf life. We basically have a 3 year window with Dak. You're hoping a back like that can take the offense to the next level. With Dak and Ceedee signed up, a RB like that makes sense as sort of the finishing piece. Imagine if we had rookie Zeke on the offense with experienced Dak. It would be a different world for this offense.
Agreed although you see plenty of RBs around the league performing well at 27-28 who weren't worn out in their first 3 years like Elliott. If you take a prudent approach and pair a guy like Jeanty with bigger, physical back I think it's reasonable to expect high level production for his rookie deal plus another 2-3 years.

This is true but it's a position where you can go from elite to not even a starter by the age of 26 in the NFL. The important thing is for those first 3-4 year you need to be ready to compete. Have the Oline in place, have the QB in place and then use the best years of the RB to the fullest.

I'm not a big RB in the first kind of guy, but this team at this stage it makes a lot of sense. And if not, we have plenty of other needs we could use that pick for too.

If he's that good, despite the position being devalued, I have a hard time believing he'll fall to the 20s or whatever.

Good thing our sorry asses will be picking top 10.
You've been around long enough to know better. Never put it past Jerry to fall hard for a player. Especially when it comes to shiny offensive weapons.

Exactly, part of Zeke's problem is Garrett ran him into the ground like a rented mule.

Jerry took the Jimmy philosophy of "Use them up then get another one" and forgot the second part.

And I still think the devaluing of RBs has gone too far. It has some validity, but we've swung too far in that direction.

I think you are misunderstanding what I said. I'm saying we'll be drafting higher than a lot of us would have guessed, so we'll have a chance at him in our range.

That was certainly part of the problem. Part of the problem was Zeke loved to party and I don't think he took care of his body the way he needed. And part of it was just his violent running style. It was fun to watch but when you play RB wanting to just smash people and be a battering ram, it takes it's toll.

In the end his speed and balance dropped off rather quickly.

This part isn't talked about enough, but it's true.

He will get drafted. He didn't like his draft grade last draft so he came back. He had a 4th or 5th round grade.

He doesn't have the top speed but he is quick to get to his top speed if that makes sense. Very patient so let's his blockers set up and then he hits the hole. A lot like Leveon Bell did when he was playing.
So he is going to use up his body again and be a fourth round pick anyways?

I have no idea what he thought he was going to do this year, light it up? On that team?

He really wanted to enjoy the great success of being on a mediocre team again with a chance at the Little Cesar's Pizza Bowl.

Omarion Hampton is a stud RB we should consider.
Similar numbers to Tahj Brooks. Normally those numbers would look very nice but Jeanty is making them seem pedestrian.

I don't disagree.

I think you could see Judkins and Jeanty go in the first this year. But after those two I think there is a glut of good back options. Much better class in my opinion than last year.

Don't sleep on Kaleb Johnson either. He has climbed to 5 on Kipers position rankings at RB.

You can add Ollie Gordon to that list too.
