You mean an elite QB like Purdy?
At the very least, he’s an elite bus driver like Phil Simms. That will get you there with a defense like the 49ers have. And Purdy will only get better unless he’s reached his ceiling already which I find to be unlikely.

Collinsworth was insane right there. First of all, Cooks isn't one of the fastest humans on Earth, that's ridiculous. But second, he's running away from Warner. Warner isn't even close to keeping up with him.

Seriously, the constant absurd hyperbole from almost everybody is one of the biggest turnoffs in sports commentating right now. Seems like Gruden was the first to start that on MNF and everyone copied and one-upped him.
especially Collinsworth. Really bad.

The defense wasn't great last night and it's clear that it's not gonna be capable of single handedly turning a game around against a truly elite offense (but very few defenses can, especially in this day and age). But if the offense didn't do absolutely ZERO and could have ground out some points and drives, the defensive performance might have been different.

Dak, Pollard, Gallup and Cooks are big fat zeroes. And we don't really have anything at TE either.
Agreed. And this "new" offensive scheme isn't doing them any favors. 49ers had guys wide open all night. Not just open, but wide open. We can't scheme to get guys just open. A few times last night, but that was it. Dak hit a few and missed more. I don't know if it's them getting reps against different teams with the newer offense or what. Our WR and TE are not as bad as what they showed last night, but they didn't win many one on one battles.

Not throwing in the towel yet. Have confidence that DQ can figure it out more than on the offensive side. We had all our starting Oline, but they're not near 100%.

A win last night wouldn't have proven much either other than we can beat the 49ers in the regular season. We all know none of it matters until they do it in the playoffs. The schedule is tough. We'll see, but we're not as bad as that performance last night.

Maybe not. But this team is going nowhere

Yep. I’ve been laughing about all the guys here that chewed on everyone who questioned what this team was.
The Niners went out, filled in a few weak spots and got much better than they were last year.
The Cowboys, well Jerry and his Merry band of Faggots did what they always do, which is brag about how great they are and talk about 365 days a year talent acquisition when in fact they will never know how to build a Championship caliber squad. All flash, no substance, no heart. The great pretenders.

42-10 tells you all you need to know.
They did try, a little.

They added good value additions for late round picks in Gilmore and Cooks (Cooks would be good, in theory, as a third WR, not a second).

The biggest two problems are they completely misevaluated, secondly, the RB position, and by far the #1, they have misevaluated the QB position.

It's an amazing situation for Purdy and he is matching the moment. It will be interesting to see if a team can figure something out to attack him on that will limit his effectiveness. Thus far, nobody can touch him.

The talent at RB and WR are fine. Dowdle and Vaughn are fine to get 12 carries per game between the both of them. Cooks and Gallup are more than adequate as 2nd and 3rd WRs.

It's the mediocre, conservative scheming that is a problem. This is Schottenheimer's MO. But mostly as you correctly said, it's the QB. Dak is shot.

There’s no way anyone could look at this defense or offense and think this is a playoff caliber team.
You have to start considering the flukey way we have won which hid a lot of things that Shanahan's kid had a ball ripping to shreds.

The Defense is still got false swagger and think they are in a state of denial.

No brain.
They should start jockeying literally now to try to get assets to move up for a QB.

There is zero else that matters.

This team needs a QB.

I don't care if you have to part with three first round picks to do it.

Drake Maye baby.

I would say "fine," is an adequate description. The problem is that Super Bowl winners usually come to the table with way more than fine.

It is both. Prescott does not have the ability to function when timing is disrupted in this system.

I don't even think it's that. Prior to the injury the couple of times he's been the primary back were at best mixed results. He's a good player but he's miscast as a primary back.

And that might even have worked had they brought in another reliable guy. But they didn't.
They needed a tough yards runner. Didn't have to be an Eddie Lacy style bruiser but at least a thicker guy who can navigate the weeds.

Instead their project that they brought in is a mini mite in Deuce Vaughan.

Dowdle and Davis are your average practice squad caliber players. A big lump of nothing.

If it were up to you McDaniels would have crashed and burned here.
True... like twelve years ago now. I would have taken a big swing.

But I advocate a lot of unconventional things that would work if it wasn't prevented by outdated conservative philosophies.
