Another thing that’s painfully clear. Gallup is done. That experiment needs to end sooner than later. Another Jones gamble and “football decision” that didn’t pan out.
Keeping Gallup over Cooper looks like a horrific decision. I know other factors were in play there, they definitely did not like Cooper's attitude/devotion to football, but he's still a #1 WR. Unlike Gallup or the washed up complimentary receiver we brought in to replace Cooper.

the idea was apparently that CeeDee is to be the #1. If thats the case, Cooper is a very expensive #2, and probably doesnt like having his status demoted, and thus becomes a liability in the receiver room.

There’s no way anyone could look at this defense or offense and think this is a playoff caliber team.

Agree with this, especially comparing to Philly whose defense has gotten roasted by some mediocre offenses/QB's so far without looking nearly as dominant as our defense against lesser opponents.

I thought SF's defense would take a step back after losing Ryans but somehow they seem as good as ever, almost as if the scheme is not fully emanating from the coordinator but partially from the players, probably Warner in particular.

Our defense is definitely good enough to compete with those teams, and I think our offense can challenge the Eagles because their pass defense seems pretty shit, but I have 0 faith that Dak and/or McCarthy has what it takes against SF's defense, in conjunction with the creativity they show on offense.

The defensive play last night doesn't worry me much but I was hoping to see some strong ideas out of McCarthy and the offense against a defense that obviously had to be one of their main focuses of the offseason, and yet they looked as lost as ever.
The defense wasn't great last night and it's clear that it's not gonna be capable of single handedly turning a game around against a truly elite offense (but very few defenses can, especially in this day and age). But if the offense didn't do absolutely ZERO and could have ground out some points and drives, the defensive performance might have been different.

Dak, Pollard, Gallup and Cooks are big fat zeroes. And we don't really have anything at TE either.

Like I’ve said, RB1 has lost half a step since that injury. He’s just doesn’t have that explosion anymore.
And…he was never going to be an every down RB. But ya know, Jerry Jones Team roster building 101 and things and stuff and things.

this I disagree with. This defense is good against shitty offenses. Just like Dak cant beat a good defense, this defense struggles against good (even mediocre) offenses.
I don't think this is really true. The SF offense is an elite offense and if we didn't hand them four turnovers they wouldn't have scored anywhere close to 42 points.

It's a very good defense, but allowing 20-24 points a game is par for the course even for very good defenses. It's not the 85 Bears or the 2000 Ravens, but then, only homers thought this defense was truly that good. DeMarcus Lawrence is too inconsistent at making an impact anymore, we have no LBs worth a damn, and the safeties all have warts. On top of that we are down a high end corner - a high end corner I certainly would have traded for a haul even in draft picks, but we have nothing in return for him right now. But it's still a very good defense.

Defenses rely on offenses to take the pressure off them, to control the clock a little.

Right now our offense is straight up bad. And it's kinda been obvious all season.

I'd like to blame McCarthy but I also know, unlike too many Cowboys fans, that Dak is crap. So we have to take that into account. We can't get rid of this bum fast enough. He was never really that good, always required elite pieces around him, and now he's in fast decline.

If we extend him we are morons.

In past ten years, what players have lived up to their second contract - Zack Martin. Anyone else?

What is this about? A good on time throw and Cooks takes that to the house.
Collinsworth was insane right there. First of all, Cooks isn't one of the fastest humans on Earth, that's ridiculous. But second, he's running away from Warner. Warner isn't even close to keeping up with him.

Seriously, the constant absurd hyperbole from almost everybody is one of the biggest turnoffs in sports commentating right now. Seems like Gruden was the first to start that on MNF and everyone copied and one-upped him.

You definitely shouldn’t be burning the tape. Pore over that and see all the areas this team looked awful and see what you can do to fix them. Take off the rose colored glasses and truly evaluate everyone on the roster from Dak and Micah to Goodwin and Golston
Won’t ever happen as long as PT is in charge.
I believe if McCarthy was 100% in charge we might see some actual changes. But Dak is here to stay as is all the other losers on this team.

It seemed like Cooks was open a lot if Dak could have found him. But there is no chemistry between the two. He seems to default to Gallup a lot even when there is nothing there.

What's weird is, Dak went to Cooks all the time in camp, almost to the point of locking in on him too much.

Not sure what happened. I still suspect Dak is traumatized by all the interception criticism last year and now is gunshy about going down the field.

They have gotten worse and Prescott was exposed for who he really is. He isn’t even the same QB he was his rookie season. He is fragile mentally and now it’s in his head. He can’t see the field as there was receivers open and he either held on to the ball or was too late on the throw was off.
Yeah, that's what's scary -- he's worse now than he was as a young player and I don't think there's any fixing that.

He's a more skilled passer now, but he's a lesser player. I don't know what happened after he injured his calf in 2021, but he hasn't been to same since and he's broken mentally.

He's done.

Yep.

I've used this analogy before, but Ben Hogan talked about how when you play a golf course for the first time, you just see the fairways and greens, the places where you want to hit it. As you play the course more and hit some bad shots, you start finding the water and bunkers and other hazards you didn't even think about before, and now they're in your head when you're over the ball.

I'm afraid that's where Dak is now.
