Did he even play much? I only noticed him on the field once, and he got knocked on his ass.
I honestly don't remember seeing him except for when they specifically mentioned how he had signed with them.

I still can't believe Cowboys fans actually had him on the hot seat coming into this season.

He's been outstanding for us in so many ways and this is the closest we've resembled a normal football operation since Bill Parcells was coach and it's all credit to him.
Unfortunately, if we don't make the NFCC, he'll find himself right back on the hot seat.

Such is life as a Dallas HC.

Unless your name is Jason Garrett.

Even though I wished Jim serious physical harm with a 2x4 in his asshole, I do give him credit for the free quality Bourbon and Cokes I chugged down all night.

Agreed. I was a big McCarthy critic but he’s really turned the jets on with this offense and he’s got Dak playing really well. The fumble return for the TD tonight was a fluke- a game changer for sure, but still a fluke. Dak just trying to do too much there.
I don't even blame Dak for that. Shockingly, Martin was driven backwards right into his lap and the ball started to come free. Dak was still trying to regain control of it when the defense hit him.

I love Martin, and he is still a very good guard. But he's fallen off this year. I hope it's not father time catching up to him, and just the fact he missed training camp. But we're far into the season now. He has had more than enough time to regain his footing if it was only missing TC.

The way this team is playing, McCarthy should fire himself if we don’t make the NFCC this season. That would be a huge letdown

The chicks. How were the chicks?
The chicks were not great, unfortunately. There was a smoking hot bartender, but as any construction Xmas party goes, every swinging dick was hitting on her and clogging the bar.

I don't agree with that.

There are too many variables at play in the playoffs. Unless we lose to a schlub team from the NFC south in the first round, every other team we play is going to be a good team.

Say we lose a hard fought game to the niners in the divisional round. Where we play well, but just lose to a better team on their field. Should he fire himself then?

Not even an inappropriately-dressed wife getting sloppy on the dance floor?

What he's done with Dak this year is amazing. Said it before, but I really thought seven years of Garrett was too much for any QB to overcome. But McCarthy seems to have done it. Dak has never played this well for this long.

Exactly.

And not only that, but who are you going to hire that you're certain is going to be just as good or better than he's been?

I feel like so many fans have short memories and are forgetting that Jerry Jones still owns the team and we don't do things like normal organizations do, so how do you know that the Cowboys wouldv even go out and hire another respectable coach?

That's a lot of assuming there and I for one wouldn't want to take that chance.

Hats off to Mike McCarthy. He has really turned this team around. Too bad he was saddled with Moore his first couple of seasons. Sure would have been fun to see where we would have been with him completely in charge from the start.
After watching Dak’s massive improvement as a QB in the WCO, it makes me even angrier that we were stuck with Red Ball and Moore for so long. McCarthy is 100% responsible for Dak’s 180° shift as a player. I can only imagine what some of the teams in years past could have been if we had a real head coach and a real play caller.

I don't think we are more talented than the 49ers. So to lose in San Fran in the playoffs in some close game is hardly a reason to fire the guy. I think right now this team is playing about as good as you could possibly expect from any head coach.

With that being said if this defense brings their A game I think we can beat the 49ers.

Everything about the football side of the organization has been an improvement across the board since he came in.

We always complained about how we weren't a well coached team and now we have what I believe is the most well coached Cowboys team since the 90s.

All three aspects of the team are very well coached.

On top of all the improvements that he's helped to make on the field, he's also had a huge impact on how we both evaluate and acquire talent.

Before him, we never would have traded for a Cooks or Gilmore.

And while they didn't pan out, he went after two nose tackles his first season in charge when before him we never went after that position.

Mazi hasn't been great but at least it was a legit attempt to draft a difference-maker at a position that we've been ignoring for far too long.

And does anyone think we cut Jaylon Smith not even half way into the season under Garrett or Wade Phillips before him?

At some point I do think he has to make progress in the playoffs, but I'm keeping that guy for next season no matter what happens with the rest of the season.

And even going into next season and beyond, it would take something that I would consider a catastrophic failure for me to even consider replacing him.

He's just done way too much good to have such a short sighted view on his tenure.

As far as I'm concerned, this is year one for Mike McCarthy. It's his first year without having to wallow around in the the filth left behind by Garrett and Moore.
Absolutely.

I can't wait to see what else the guy can cook up going forward now that he has full control of the offense.

What really stuck out to me was the announcers talking about how shocked Dak was about the changes McCarthy has made to the offense compared to what he's been doing all these years in the league.

It's basically exactly what many of us have been saying about wanting to see him in a system that has no direct link to Garrett's offenses. Moore's bullshit was basically just a slight variant of Garrett's with a few extra bells and whistles.

I said many times that we owed it to Dak and ourselves to get this guy in an offense with roots that have absolutely no tie to what he had been playing in since 2016. And now look at him, arguably the MVP frontrunner, there's no telling what we could've done in the playoffs the last two years if McCarthy took the offense over in 2020.
