we're going to see people practically throwing the ball forward when they get close because there will be no penalty for losing it.
But there is a penalty for losing it. The other team could recover it.
That's like saying there's no penalty for losing the ball at the 50 if it goes out of bounds.
Why should the consequences be harsher just because it travels through the end zone?
Heck, if you fumble and it goes out of bounds at the 1, you retain possession. But 1 more yard through the end zone it changes possession? Why?
Heck, you are unnecessarily rewarding the defense for potentially doing nothing.
