First point, thank Christ they aren't going to waste money on Schultz.

Second point, this is very interesting and makes me think Mayer or Kincaid could be the pick at 26:

However possible, it would be a mistake to assume the addition the Cowboys make is at wide receiver. Adding a tight end with top-five positional potential also would qualify. This draft class is widely considered to be very strong at tight end, and Dallas owns the No. 26 overall pick.

Third, this is music to my ears and exactly what I've been railing on for at least two years as far as how this offense is constructed:

Some of these changes will result, the Cowboys hope, in a more quarterback-friendly offense. That means a reduction in the number of hits Prescott absorbs along with better continuity and disguise in the relationship between the run and pass game.

I wonder if there's room in the budget to hire Warren Sharp so he can teach Mike McCarthy how to coach football.

Yeah, I don't get where all the pessimism is coming from regarding Mike McCarthy's comments the other day.

There was nothing about what he said that makes me believe that we're going to turn into this 3 yards and a cloud of dust offense.

Anyone who has watched the Cowboys since Jason Garrett implemented his offensive scheme knows that it wasn't just that we didn't run the ball enough, but it was also when we did and didn't choose to run the football.

And just like Garrett before him, Kellen Moore really struggled with situational football.

I keep going back to that interception in the playoff game versus the 49ers, but that is a perfect example of what Mike McCarthy is talking about. It's 2nd and 2 and we are in scoring position, but not only are we trying to score there, we are also trying to ensure that we leave the 49ers with no time left on the clock to score before the half.

So the call there should have been to run the ball, but at the very least, we NEVER should have gone to a 5 wide empty set knowing what the situation was at that time.

THAT, to me is what I got from what Mike McCarthy said the other day and I couldn't agree more.

Like Simp said already, I think it's really silly that people could take what he said and think that we're going to turn into a Bill Parcells type offense.

I'm really excited to see what the unit looks like with better management and more practical playcalling.

That's the perfect play to explain what McCarthy seems to be talking about.

The example that will always stick with me is that 2013 game vs McCarthy's Packers.

The game where DeMarco Murray averaged about 7.5 yards per carry but Garrett and Romo were so caught up in padding the passing stats that the Cowboys ended up abandoning the run and losing a game they should have won by 3 TDs.

What makes that one worse is Aaron Rodgers missed that game due to injury. They let Matt Flynn beat them.

We didn't have a hot young OC trying to pad his resume back then, but it does highlight how McCarthy will have to ensure Dak is fully on board with sticking to the run and not going rogue to pad his stats like Romo did during in that 2013 game.
