We didn't have schemes.

We ran plays. There was no regard to design to the overall scheme of the game, tempo, anything.
This is exactly right.

I didn't give much of a shit who replaced Moore as long as he was gone. The offense needed to be shook up, Dak needed to get outside of his comfort zone with his butt buddy, and most importantly we needed to completely divorce ourselves from an offense rooted in the Garrett era.

There is a 0.0% chance that McCarthy, who has been in the league 30 years, is going to just scrap everything that he was surrounded by and learned all that time just to call plays out of Moore's (Garrett's/Linehan's/Coryell's) playbook.

And it's probably do or die time for McCarthy, if we underwhelm next year our HC in 2024 is going to be either Quinn or Payton.

So, this unsettling article says “the offense will remain in place, it will just be McCarthy calling plays.”

They could have kept Moore and just had McCarthy call plays if that was all that was changing. It's happened before.

There's a lot more going on here than just the playcaller is changing.

Yeah, I don't believe we'll see the "all hooks" or "all go" plays anymore.

Before the year started I was worried he was on the Jason Garrett career path in Dallas.

Glad they used their eyes rather than emotion for a change.
Or maybe it wasn't "them"....This might have been all McCarthy.

Maybe he built up enough credibility and collateral with them to convince them he knew what he was doing after having the type of success he's had over the last 2 years.

Even the Jones' have to be aware that he accomplished something they haven't experienced around there in damn near 30 years with the back to back seasons of double digit wis and playoff appearances.

Whatever the reason is, I don't care. I'm just glad he's finally gone and I hope the final remains of Garrett's retarded offense is gone with him.

No more of this:

1st and 10 - Zeke for no gain
2nd and 10 - Zeke for 1 yard
3rd and 9 - 5 wide, all 7 yard curl routes
4th and 7 - Punt
More importantly, I hope going shotgun empty backfield on 2nd and 3rd and shorts are gone too.

I can't tell you how much I despised that and so very often it came back to bite us.

Most recently, that 2nd and 2 when Dak threw his 2nd pick vs the 49ers.

It’s like Christmas morning here at DCC with Moore being shown the big exit door.
I’m perfectly fine with Fat Mike calling the plays, he had some prolific West Coast style offense with Rodgers at the helm.

What you said is the biggest reason this is a positive. Is Mike or another OC going to make Dak into Troy Aikman... Of course not. But besides the Xs and Os, I'm glad Mike gained the sway to fire one of Jerry's projects, a guy Jerry insisted he keep when he was hired.

Of course Jerry never should have insisted he retain the existing OC in the first place... but better late than never.

I really am flabbergasted that Garrett hasn't turned up back at Alabama yet.
If he hadn't got the announcing gig I'm sure he would have
