I understand your reasoning. I cannot align with rooting for divisional or conference rival.

Way I was raised.
Maybe you can acquire a broader brush for self serving means. I it helps to expand self serving methodology.

It was the right decision.

I'm honestly not being a homer here. How do you put in two SEC teams when the one who won the conference lost at home to a team that won another p5 conference with the exact same record?

So my logic was always, Georgia lost to Alabama on a neutral field who lost to Texas at home.

So it was never the SEC teams that I was worried about, it was undefeated FSU.

The committee made the right decision in leaving a team that clearly was not elite out of the playoffs.

They actually got it right for once.

They did but you have to feel a little bad for FSU. You won all your games and got knocked out because your QB got hurt and still won despite it.
I honestly believe that is bullshit. They beat everyone on their schedule, finishing undefeated. You can't control injuries.

Yeah, they would go into the playoffs and more than likely be smashed. But it's still something to make it there. Their being left out is for only one reason. So the NCAA can make more money.

You certainly wouldn't see an NFL team win their division, and get left out of the playoffs if they lost their QB week 17.

Yeah I have no particular love for FSU but it seems pretty unfair. The selection committee just didn't have the balls to leave the SEC out of it.

I’d sooner slit my own wrists and throw myself into a vat of leeches than root for Ohio State.

Just seems odd to me. You're on an ultra talented team coming off a one loss season. You play in an offense that helps you have great stats. Not sure there is a better place to go.

Certainly this isn't just because Day wouldn't committ to him for next season?

He has to believe they are bringing someone in or that they are giving someone else a chance. He wasn’t great but he wasn’t terrible either.

Of course, he has to go with his BFF Lebby to Miss State.

OU has better in the wings anyway.

I agree, especially since OSU is very thin at QB. I have a hard time believing that he wouldn't be able to beat out incoming true freshman Lincoln Kienholz. If anything, this could be McCord not having confidence in Ryan Day.

QB in college football has become weird.
In a financial sense, it's smart for many of these guys to enter the portal, since it'll be the only time they get paid big money for playing the position, considering most of them won't play in the NFL.

Thought I saw where Texas backup might consider Ohio State.

If I'm Iowa, I'm going after him with mad fury. He'd easily be the best QB they've had in 20 years.
I agree, but Iowa would need to bring in a real offensive coordinator to lure anyone like that. He isn't going to want to play in the dumpster fire that is Iowa's offense as it is constructed right now. Meanwhile you know Ferentz isn't going to go outside the box at all with the offensive coordinator position. It's probably going to be some current or former assistant who gets the job. I appreciate that Ferentz always puts together good seasons but at some point you have to take your shot at being better than that. And while I get that we won't pull Ohio State or Michigan level talent but we put a lot of great players in the NFL. It's a school that can produce some talent.
