Stupid question. The NIL and transfer portal are obviously huge now in CF.
I heard a coach (can’t remember his name) on ESPN talking about the NIL/transfer portal and how getting a big time player at QB to transfer in to his program costs a minimum of 1-1.5 million dollars. What am I missing here? I guess I don’t understand how everything works.
Matt Rhule talked about it a few days ago.

Basically, college football is the wild west now. You pretty much just buy players. They can only transfer once (as an undergrad -- they can again as a graduate) but once they enter the portal, they can just go to the highest bidder.

It totally sucks, but it's the way it is now.

I think Texas can play with and possibly beat any of the teams being considered for the playoffs.
Well we know they cam beat Alabama. And if you can't win your own conference you definitely don't belong in the final four. Georgia just lost their playoff game in my opinion.

And they don't have to sit out a year. So every college player is basically on a one year contract NFL style.

That's what I think...I got not problem with Alabama getting in, just not over Texas.

But it's Georgia that has a lesser case than both.

There isn't a single justifiable reason for putting in both those SEC teams in and leaving Texas out when Texas won the head to head IN TUSCALOOSA.

Georgia lost their chance today.

Every time I watch Iowa, I’m reminded how good their defense is. It’s damned good.

I think he establishes possession and then is down and it should be a Louisville touchdown.

Power 5 champ, and undefeated. That’s a strong resume regardless of not having a QB. Plus, still being able to win games including the ACC Championship without a QB should get some recognition.

Oh. ACC pride? Sorry, fresh out.
I haven’t had any for a while either, but it’s still an impressive accomplishment.

And, Texas got its ass handed to it BADLY by a very mediocre Oklahoma team. That can’t be discounted. They had the shit beaten out of them. The beating wasn’t as close as the final score.

Yeah I agree but the claim is always, college football is great because every game is a playoff game. Well Florida State won theirs and Georgia, Alabama and Texas all lost one of theirs. It's kind of weird having this many unbeaten teams at the end of a season.

Right, I get that. But since you can’t pay players, what was Rhule talking about when he said it cost 1 million to get a good QB? Is it the universities who are paying the NIL tab?

Michigan, Washington, FSU, Alabama. That’s my pick for the playoff.

FSU has a shit ton better D than Georgia. If anything, Georgia hurt themselves more not by losing, but by looking like a bad defensive team and even worse a team whose best 3 offensive players won’t be 100% in a playoff game against guess who, an Alabama team that has steadily improved game by game and who’s D looks decent and an OL that absolutely mauled the Georgia DL.
I think Alabamas QB kinda sucks, but the guy pulls shit outta his ass when you least expect it.
Of course, FSU lost their starting QB, but has still managed to go undefeated. Their offense after the JT injury has been fairly bad, but they are still winning. It’s going to be interesting.

If it were up to me to pick, I’d have Texas in over Alabama. Bama shouldn’t get a pass for getting throttled at home by Texas.
I agree. Both conference Champs, one team beat the other head to head. But you know how the SEC gets propped up. They won't leave the SEC out. But this obviously highlights the need for a tourney at the end of the year with more teams. Then we can argue about some two or 3 loss team being left out instead.
