Feh.

Miller has to be managed at this stage of his career.

He's not an every down warrior anymore.

I give him a season maybe of strong play, then a half year of real production with an injury.

Then again, I am not going to be choosy. We are now down a starting DE.

If for anything else, we need to present a strong line even though we know one or the other of the ends won't play a full 16 at a high level.
I’d rather see Chandler Jones here than Miller. Where’s splashy Jerry when we need him? Plenty of cap room especially with the big jump in ‘23, and Nose-ring hopefully off the books- there’s really no excuses.

Literally every single team in the league has taken a bust in the first or second over the last 8 years. If you count guys like LVE (a rookie Pro Bowler) and Connor Williams (4 year starter who will start for Miami) as our busts then we're doing pretty well.

Over the last 8 years we're basically averaging 1 Pro Bowler and 1.5 starting caliber players each year. That's pretty damn good.

It's generally a pretty dysfunctional, dumbass organization but they've drafted well since 2014.
Yet that hasn’t translated to playoff wins or titles.
Whether they draft well or not, the draft in itself is not a method of building a team or winning in todays NFL.
And even worse, when the Cowboys draft a turd they refuse to dump the player and replace him with a vet, usually because of sentimental reasons, stupidity or a belief they’ll get better.

They hit on a gem with Parsons…go fucking get a stud to pair with him! Gregory wasn’t a stud, nor is DLaw. They are average pass rushers who disappeared during stretches of games. Give Parsons some help.

Don't forget to give McClay credit on drafting, Stephen is merely smart enough to listen to him.

Yea, but my point was that I'd prefer Stephen's shittiness to Jerry's given that he was in many ways the driving force behind empowering McClay, and ultimately that has led to some of our best rosters since 1995.

Think about how shit we were in 1999 or 2002 or 2011 thanks to Jerry with hollowed out rosters and just a handful of skill position talent. The 2014, 2016, 2019 and even 2021 teams were all way better than anything we had post-1995 (except for 2007 thanks to Parcells), which is why I said I'd still take Stephen over Jerry.

All the other stuff you touched on is a result of Stephen's dumbassery, which is obviously bad, but still not as bad as Jerry as long as the draft keeps rolling along relatively well.

Wow.

Stephen Jones appears to be so incompetent that he may do to the Cowboys what Cal McNair has done to the Texans when he takes over from his father -- and that is run the franchise into the ground due to sheer incompetence.

The players need to quit this " I got family to feed" excuse. Thats a load of horseshit.

Exactly right...it may have been a terrible offer but that "family to feed" shit is a joke.

You're earning money that should support your family for generations.

Of course.

But that's not the point here.... Jerry had to step in and fix Stephen's mistake.

It's becoming more and more clear that he has no people skills whatsoever and if not for Jerry, both of our starting ends would be gone.

I'm ready for Jerry to go, but it would be great to get someone in negotiations to complement Stephen the way McClay does on the personnel side.

I know that. Im just commenting on the ridiculous notion that a guy that got paid 65 million dollars can't feed his family.

Yeah, they're completely out of touch.

It reminds me when the NBA had that lockout in 99 and Patrick Ewing tried to get the public to sympathize with the players by saying "Yeah, we get paid a lot but we spend a lot of money too."

No kidding. Talk about disrespect. You've already made tens of millions of dollars, with more coming, and you want to act like it's a struggle to feed your kids while a lot of hardcore fans of the team really are struggling. It pisses me off, actually. Shows how out of touch these guys are.

Another reason I won't be sorry to see him gone. We'll see if he's any good a couple of years from now.
