I hope they don't overreact to losing Gregory by overpaying Miller, but this is Jerry we're talking about.

It is not Jerry anymore.

He brokered this shit and Goof Son fucked him with the "standard" contract.

A lot of people used to think Goof would be better, different.

Nah. He is a new disease. Been dormant for a while.

While true I'd still take Stephen, we're one of the better drafting teams in the league over the last 8-10 years in part due to him, and Garrett's dumbass staying around for 10 years was mostly, if not all Jerry.

And despite the idiotic approach to FA we've had Super Bowl caliber rosters a few times over the last 8ish years, which is more than I can say for the previous 20 (except for 2007 thanks to Parcells).

Just randomly watched a drive in the Rams/Bucs playoff game and it's safe to say that Miller hasn't lost a step.

I wasn't watching the whole thing and picked a good drive of Miller's to highlight, I just randomly flipped it on, the Rams were on defense so I thought, hey, let's see how Miller looks. Anyway, he whipped Donovan Smith with a speed rush a few times and then beat Ali Marpet clean on the interior with a spin. He got at least 2 pressures on the drive, probably got a "QB hit" and just generally caused havoc on about 4 of the 7 times he pass-rushed.

I'd happily give him 4/64 and hope he can give me 3 years of top level play, but would settle for 2. The difference between him and Gregory is much more than 2 million per year and if we somehow found an interior pass-rusher who could give us 5-6 sacks I think that pass rush could carry us deep into the playoffs under Quinn.

Ware once upon a time paired with a young stud in Vonn Miller. There seems to be a full circle element to Vonn Miller coming here to pair with Parsons. Just found it interesting in my head if it happens.

Feh.

Miller has to be managed at this stage of his career.

He's not an every down warrior anymore.

I give him a season maybe of strong play, then a half year of real production with an injury.

Then again, I am not going to be choosy. We are now down a starting DE.

If for anything else, we need to present a strong line even though we know one or the other of the ends won't play a full 16 at a high level.

That is a best case scenario. And Ware lasted three seasons, only one at a high level. That is about what I would expect from Miller.

Wait...what?
Since 2014 when they supposedly revamped their scouting process after the Frederick situation in 2013 we've been one of the better drafting teams in the league.

How many teams have done better than Martin, Dak, Elliott, Parsons, Byron Jones, Lamb, Diggs, Lawrence, Gallup, Awuzie, Schultz, Lewis, Anthony Brown, Cedrick Wilson, etc. over the last 8 years?

I'm guessing no more than 5.

Gregory has to be managed too, you know damn good and well he shouldn't be playing 60 snaps a game and banging his head against a wall to stop the run either. Miller is the same, ideally you probably limit him to about 70% of the snaps, primarily in obvious passing situations and then count your money when teams can't stop him and Parsons.

His age is a risk, yes, but if you took 2016 me and showed me that game I couldn't tell the difference between 27 year old Miller and 32 year old Miller. I'll roll those dice when we have the kind of pass rush talent that we have to supplement him with.

With all that said, I'd take Chandler Jones over Miller if all else is equal, but Miller definitely has juice left for at least 1, maybe 2 more Pro Bowl caliber seasons.

And even if he slows down a bit in the regular season, I'd bet on him being able to turn it up a notch for the playoffs.

I think the idea with Miller is if you sign him you draft a pass rusher with a premium pick and hope the draft pick can take over the mantle in a year or two.

If anything we are a farm system for the rest of the league.

And we can't be a "better drafting team" if you take shit like Taco Charlton, Trysten Hill. Jaylon Smith, Gavin Escobar, Terrence Williams, J.J. Wilcox and pretty soon Vander Esch and Connor Williams in premium rounds.

Sorry. You can have all the Cedrick Wilsons and Anthony Browns you want. That kind of inept use of top picks is a disqualifier.

Literally every single team in the league has taken a bust in the first or second over the last 8 years. If you count guys like LVE (a rookie Pro Bowler) and Connor Williams (4 year starter who will start for Miami) as our busts then we're doing pretty well.

Over the last 8 years we're basically averaging 1 Pro Bowler and 1.5 starting caliber players each year. That's pretty damn good.

It's generally a pretty dysfunctional, dumbass organization but they've drafted well since 2014.

So we are grading players on Pro Bowls?

Go for that if you choose to do so. You are a fool if you do.

We are a well promoted team.

Jaylon Fucking Smith was a Pro Bowler.

Show us a team that doesn't have a bunch of misses in the first 3-4 rounds. Just one.

We'll wait.

Notice I never mentioned Jaylon.

Guys like Martin, Dak, Elliott, Parsons, Diggs, Lawrence, Byron Jones, etc. are/were legitimate Pro Bowl talents.

Go pick whichever team you think is best at drafting in the league and I bet their hauls since 2014 won't be significantly better than ours.

I said 3/45 earlier, we were giving Gregory 14/year so what's another 1-2 for Miller?

I'd rather give it to Chandler Jones but beggars can't be choosers with this poverty organization.
I don’t give a shit about Gregory. I did give a shit about Cooper. The Hillbilly Tards can still redeem themselves over Gregory-especially at 14/year.
Cooper? No redeeming themselves there.
