I don't see how that is such a stretch. Parsons was probably the highest rated defender on a lot of boards.
It's not a stretch, I saw 4th overall thrown around somewhere which is definitely a stretch, but Parsons is basically a consensus top 2 defensive prospect in the draft with some having him first.

If it weren't for the opt out/maturity shit he'd have been the clear cut top rated guy if he played 2020 and had a similar or better year to 2019.

If one of those three safeties drop close to us, I will not be against using a little capital and moving up to ensure we get one of them.
I don't know... I'd consider trading up for Moehrig I guess, but I'd bet at least one of them will make it down to us. I think i might be more inclined to just stand pat and take whichever one makes it to us. We might even have our choice with a couple of them there. And then maybe consider a trade up for a corner or defensive tackle that is falling.

But will we actually pull the trigger? I hope so, but have my doubts.

I have a feeling we might bundle one of the thirds to get up in the second or even get back in near the end of the round.

I'm with you on DT, but I'm the opposite on CB and S. I would rather wait for a corner and would be much more willing to move up a bit for one of those 3 safeties.

And yet Dallas risked losing him in the tradedown and the Giants said "no thanks." Hardly a ringing endorsement.

I'd love to grab a couple of Dlineman on day 2 so I'm not eager to give up potential starters. Moehrig would be worth but I have Holland right with him.

2021 NFL Draft best available for Dallas Cowboys: Richie Grant, Azeez Ojulari — updated Big Board

By Jon Machota Apr 29, 2021

The Cowboys have four picks on Day 2 of the NFL Draft — No. 44 in the second round and Nos. 75, 84 and 99 in the third. Here are some of the top prospects still available at Dallas’ most significant positions of need.

Cornerback

This was expected to be addressed with the Cowboys’ first-round pick. Since it wasn’t, look for that to happen on Day 2. If Dallas had to play today, Trevon Diggs, Jourdan Lewis and Anthony Brown would likely be their starting corners. New defensive coordinator Dan Quinn prefers bigger corners with long arms. But that doesn’t mean they’ll completely rule out a shorter player, especially if they have a history of making plays on the ball.

Top cornerbacks still on the board:

Asante Samuel Jr., Florida State (5-10, 180). Three interceptions in eight games last year.
Kelvin Joseph, Kentucky (6-0, 197). Four interceptions in nine games last year.
Ifeatu Melifonwu, Syracuse (6-3, 205). Three interceptions in his last 20 games.
Elijah Molden, Washington (5-10, 192). Five interceptions in his last 17 games.
Tyson Campbell, Georgia (6-1, 193). One interception in three years as a starter.

Safety

No NFL team has invested less in a position than the Cowboys have at safety over the last decade. Could this be the year that finally changes? A Day 2 pick would make a lot of sense. Donovan Wilson, a sixth-round pick in 2019, is expected to start at strong safety. Xavier Woods, the team’s previous starter at free safety, is now with the Vikings. Veterans Damontae Kazee and Jayron Kearse were signed in free agency, but a young free safety of the future is still needed to pair with Wilson.

Top safeties still on the board:

Trevon Moehrig, TCU (6-1, 202). Seven interceptions, 28 passes defended in last three years.
Richie Grant, UCF (6-0, 197). Ten interceptions, 27 passes defended in last three years.
Jevon Holland, Oregon (6-1, 207). Nine interceptions, 19 passes defended in 27 games.
Hamsah Nasirildeen, Florida State (6-3, 215). Four interceptions, 13 PD in 39 games.
Divine Deablo, Virginia Tech (6-3, 226). Six interceptions, 17 passes defended in 51 games.
Andre Cisco, Syracuse (6-1, 216). Thirteen interceptions, 29 passes defended in 24 games.
Jamar Johnson, Indiana (6-0, 205). Seven interceptions, 14 passes defended in 31 games.

Edge rusher

The top of Dallas’ defensive end depth chart currently consists of DeMarcus Lawrence, Randy Gregory, Tarell Basham, Dorance Armstrong and Bradlee Anae. More help is needed, especially with Aldon Smith, who started every game in 2020, now with the Seahawks. The Cowboys haven’t drafted an edge rusher in one of the first three rounds since picking Taco Charlton 28th overall in 2017.
Top edge rushers still on the board:

Azeez Ojulari, Georgia (6-2, 250). Fourteen sacks, 18.5 tackles for loss in 24 games.
Carlos Basham, Wake Forest (6-3, 274). Twenty and a half sacks, 35.5 TFL in 45 games.
Joseph Ossai, Texas (6-4, 256). Eleven sacks, 30.5 tackles for loss in 36 games.
Ronnie Perkins, Oklahoma (6-3, 253). Sixteen and a half sacks, 32 TFL in 33 games.
Dayo Odeyingbo, Vanderbilt (6-5, 285). Twelve sacks, 31 tackles for loss in 44 games.
Rashad Weaver, Pittsburgh (6-4, 259). Seventeen sacks, 34.5 tackles for loss in 35 games.

Defensive tackle

This is second only to safety in terms of positions the Cowboys have invested the least amount of resources. Trysten Hill, a late second-round pick in 2019, and Neville Gallimore, a third-round pick last year, are the biggest investments on the roster. Veterans Brent Urban and Carlos Watkins were signed in free agency to add depth. Antwaun Woods, who has started 32 games over the last three seasons, was re-signed last week. Justin Hamilton, who saw increased playing time after Gerald McCoy and Hill were lost to injuries and Dontari Poe was released, is also still on the roster.

Top defensive tackles still on the board:

Christian Barmore, Alabama (6-4, 310). Ten sacks, 15.5 tackles for loss in 24 games.
Levi Onwuzurike, Washington (6-3, 290). Seven sacks, 16 tackles for loss in 39 games.
Marlon Tuipulotu, USC (6-2, 307). Eight and a half sacks, 15 tackles for loss in 33 games.
Milton Williams, Louisiana Tech (6-3, 284). Ten sacks, 19 tackles for loss in 30 games.
Jay Tufele, USC (6-2, 305). Seven and a half sacks, 11 tackles for loss in 25 games.
Daviyon Nixon, Iowa (6-3, 313). Eight and a half sacks, 19 tackles for loss in 21 games.
Alim McNeill, NC State (6-2, 317). Ten sacks, 17.5 tackles for loss in 35 games.

Offensive tackle

If Tyron Smith had not missed 14 games and La’el Collins had not missed the entire 2020 season, this position probably wouldn’t be as high of a priority. But it’s the biggest area of need on offense because of the injury concerns at the two starting tackle spots. Most quality offensive tackles are picked in the first round or early on Day 2, but there have been some gems found in the later rounds. The Packers drafted All-Pro David Bakhtiari in the fourth round in 2013. The Saints picked three-time Pro Bowler Terron Armstead in the third round in 2013. Charles Leno, who has started all but three games for the Bears over the last six seasons, was a seventh-round pick in 2014.
Top offensive tackles still on the board:

Teven Jenkins, Oklahoma State (6-6, 317). Twenty-six starts at right tackle, seven at left tackle.
Samuel Cosmi, Texas (6-6, 314). Twenty-one starts at left tackle, 13 at right tackle.
Liam Eichenberg, Notre Dame (6-6, 306). All 38 starts came at left tackle.
Walker Little, Stanford (6-7, 313). All 19 starts came at left tackle.
Brady Christensen, BYU (6-5, 302). All 38 starts came at left tackle.
Dillon Radunz, North Dakota State (6-6, 301). All 32 starts came at left tackle.
James Hudson, Cincinnati (6-5, 313). All 11 starts came at left tackle.
D’Ante Smith, East Carolina (6-5, 305). Twenty-nine starts at left tackle, one at left guard.
Stone Forsythe, Florida (6-8, 307). Twenty-five starts at left tackle, three at right tackle.
