With the ability to trade comp picks now, I would expect us to move around some come draft day.

I don't expect it, but the ability to come away with 3-4 starters on the defensive side of the ball is there for the taking.

Our ability to trade is extremely limited in case you haven't noticed.

We honestly do not have the same kind of transactional relationships built that many other clubs have built with each other.

Eh. We've traded some in recent years. We just moved up last year with the Eagles to take Badass. And teams don't normally trade in their own division unless it's pretty one sided. And I didn't think we overpaid at all making that move. If anything, giving up a future 5th to swap a 5th for a 4th was in our favor.

I was referring to making moves like shopping the 10th overall pick. If a QB dropped right into our laps, I think we lack the capacity to maximize that kind of trade. Teams that want the player would just wait until the Giants are on the clock.

I mean that's not really true. A team would trade up to make sure that another team isn't able to. Teams don't just sit back and wait for a QB to get to the pick right before a QB needy team

Taking Moehrig at 10 would be similar to taking Frederick at 30 or whatever it was.

Frederick was one of my top candidates with our pick in the 2nd, which was like 45 or whatever, so did I care that we took him 15 spots early?

If we traded down to 20, or theoretically from 42 up to 25, Moehrig would be a top target of mine, so would I have an issue with him at 10?

At least with Fred there was an unprecedented, borderline insane run on OL leading up to the pick and Jones had flat out promised Romo he was going to get him some protection. At least we had already traded down to limit the damage of reaching, and at least we got one of the best OL in that draft signed to a 5 year deal.

Moehrig’s prolly going to be a good player, but you can’t convince me he’s the 10th best player. Maybe in a redraft one day, but you could say that about any of the late 1st early 2nd rounders he’s grouped with.

Short arms scare me. He can be a guard, though I wish we could take a true NFL OT at 10.

I agree Surtain and Farley aren’t a whole lot better than the 2nd round CBs. It’s why I’m also not a fan of taking either.

Best outcome is we trade down with someone who’s gunning for one of the QBs or elite pass catchers

I think the choice is going to be made for us, I don't think both Surtain and Slater will be there if Farley is out of contention for a top 10 pick with this injury.
