Crawford will be our primary interior pass-rusher for however long McCoy is out, he might not play the 3-T in base packages but in nickel/dime he'd get more snaps than Gallimore, Woods, Hill, Poe or any other DT on the roster.

Yes, but he is not a 3-T like McCoy. If he is done, we have to roll with Hill and Gallimore, which sucks.
I thought Nolan was experimenting with some 3-4 this year, which made me think of Snacks. A big body is a big body.

If McCoy is done for the year I'd bring in Harrison to let Gallimore initially focus on pass-rushing nickel/dime while growing into being able to play more of an every-down role.

Just completely clog the middle with Harrison/Poe in base packages and then bring in guys like Crawford and Gallimore to pass-rush.

Supposedly they are kicking around the idea of having Aldon Smith play inside also.

I may be homering out, but I think the differences in this team are going to be HUGE.

Noticeable and undeniable.

There will be no doubt in even the minds of the few remaining Garrett loving holdouts - that do exist on the Internet believe it or not - that the guy was a never-was of an excuse for a head coach and that he himself squandered players and opportunities for years.

  • This team will win double-digit games
  • This team will win the NFC East
  • This team will win in the playoffs
  • This team is a Super Bowl contender this year
McCarthy is a top NFL coach so all those things are likely regardless of any prior coaches.

We are definitely in for an exciting ride this season. I just hope Covid doesn't ruin it.

Regarding the lack of music at practice I wonder if that has anything to do with the lack of fans.

I'm sure part of the reason that music was played in the past was to keep the fans energized and engaged.
Which would be dumb.

If McCoy is out for the year, this is exactly what I was talking about and fearing at DT. Suddenly we are looking at Crawford starting and hoping a rookie hits the ground running.

Yea without McCoy I think our nickel/dime interior rotation will be Crawford/Smith/Gallimore in that order, with maybe Hill rotating in if he gets his head out of his ass.

Lawrence and Griffen off the edge with Smith bouncing back and forth most likely, and guys like Armstrong or Anae mixing in.

I think we can get by, though our defensive ceiling gets lowered a good bit without him. But this would've been a disaster without the Griffen signing.
