We actually ran some effective screens yesterday. Had to rub my eyes to make sure it was us.

I wouldn't blame Dak too much, he was on fire in the 1st quarter and then things went to shit with turnovers in the 2nd and the Browns completely controlling the clock.

He could've easily had another INT or two but that's what happens when you're taking risks. I believe we only had the ball maybe 4 times between the 2nd and 3rd quarter and two of those drives ended in turnovers, one of which was Elliott's fault, one was sort of Dak's but mostly Steele's for getting his ass whipped by Garrett and giving up the strip sack.
Fair enough.

So did Tyron Smith start yesterday? And if so, how did he look?

Game wasn't on TV here so I didn't get to watch, but that sure seems like a good thing.

After reading up on that game reports and going through this gameday chatter, it sounds to me like Nolan needs to go now. The defense is going to be historically bad if he stays (maybe even if he goes).

To me, it's about sending an early message to your team, while the season is still salvageable, that their awful and sloppy play just isn't good enough.

Again, I didn't watch the game so I don't know if this criticism is misplaced, but I see a lot of empty stats in Dak's performance.

Scoring all those points and racking up all those yards might look nice on the stat sheet and it might even help him at the negotiating table, but what stands out to me is how the offense, against the freaking Cleveland Browns, couldn't at least score a couple times in the 2nd and 3rd quarters to remain competitive.

Maybe it's not all on Dak, but seeing no points scored for 2 whole quarters, is an eye sore.

It's not his fault that they lost that game, but if he's as great and underappreciated as some might have you believe, I don't see how that happens. You cannot go scoreless for half the game, especially as the Browns are racking up points.

And finally, it was not a mistake, not even in the slightest, to fire that loser Jason Garrett. But I am starting to wonder if who we chose to replace him with was indeed a mistake.

I am just in shock at how awful the Cowboys look and how sloppy the play is each and every week. It is inexcusable for this team to look this bad and every single member of that coaching staff needs to answer for that.
It was bad. By far the worst performance on “defense” that we’ve seen in decades.

I don't know I've ever seen offenses get the edge in the running game as often against a defense as I have against this group.

I have to remind myself I'm watching pro football.

Unfortunately at this moment the Cowboys are unable to play complimentary football. That's what the 49ers were able to do with Jimmy G.

If we had an OL that could run block worth a damn, we'd be able to lean on the running game more and keep the defense on the sideline in order to mitigate some of the damage. But because of the turnovers and the nonexistent run game, they're stuck having to try to win games through the air. Which usually means you're losing the TOP battle and exposing your defense to more snaps.
Yep. Right now for better or worse they are living and dying by the pass.
It's great to see that Dak can play at a high level even when things around him are terrible, which hasn't been true in the past, but we're back in the same boat as those 2011-2013 Cowboys; an excellent QB having to carry a bad team on his shoulders.
I don't know if Tony ever had a special teams unit that was this bad though.
The defense needs a complete rebuild and a new DC, IMO.
Need to go back to the 4-3 defense, IMO.
Not vanilla like Rod, but 4-3.

Would Jimmie say to hit him in the head with a hammer before he drafted another player like Pollard?

That squib kick was fucking atrocious. I still don't understand the line of thinking there. You should have wanted to pin them as deep as you can there and pray to all that his holy the defense can get a stop giving you a shorter field to work with to at least get the FG. Just baffled my mind.
