Yea, he is not some great individual piece but when you combine it with already losing Brandon Brooks and that they're now going to be relying on 40 year old Jason Peters at LT, well, it's certainly not great.
Yeah the O-line is so important. Without a good O-line you can't run the ball and you can't develop a real passing game. And luckily this year I think we have the DE's to take advantage of this. It bodes well for us. Man the injuries seem really bad this year without any preseason games. And the funny thing is the knock has always been that the preseason games are dangerous to players. But the truth is I don't think these players are ready to play a full game. When the season starts this could be a mess of injuries.
It almost certainly will be a mess early on, COVID or no COVID.
I think this is a blessing in disguise for the Eagles. They were replacing Dillard with Peters last year, every time the latter was healthy enough to play. And Peters was noticeably better.
Peters is 38 years old and going on 39, he's slowing down with every passing month and at this point I'd be shocked if he's any better than an average starter. Maybe that's better than Dillard, maybe not, but either way Peters is the definition of a bandaid and their first round, handpicked successor at the position going down is a massive problem.
That RG position now becomes a big concern, no doubt, as does the health of Peters. He's been missing games regularly these past few years.
+1 to that. I never underestimate Jason Peters. Their resigning him really bugged me.
At this point his reputation precedes him, he hasn't been to a Pro Bowl or made an All-Pro team in about 5 years and no matter what, age comes for everybody, especially those with extensive injury histories.
That was already a guarantee prior to this.
Same for me. I just knew that somehow, some way, Peters would end up back with the Eagles again. He may be near the end, but he's been a great player for them.

I'm probably guilty of 'homering out', but between the new coaching staff and the players added in the draft and free agency, I think the changes will be stark, noticeable, and undeniable.

We no longer have Garrett or Marinelli running things. That bodes well for us by default.
Garrett’s core programming only allowed for a few behavioral methods. It’s kinda like playing The Oregon Trail; only with Garrett, you always died from dysentery regardless of the choice you make.
