And Surtain is a bystander despite seemingly being in a cover-3 type coverage where he's responsible for a deep third down the sideline.

Pitts looks Fitzgerald-esque in these contested situations, he seems to always win.
Surtain fits the mold of one year wonder as well. When I was living in Florida they used to talk about him and Asante Samuel Jr a lot. So I made sure to follow them since I watched their dads play in the NFL.

Surtain really didn't do much his first couple of years and this year he's had a couple of INTs but he certainly hasn't looked like a 1st rounder.

Yea, at this point I think you have to consider Pitts where ever we're picking, even if it's 4, but especially if it's like 9.

Trading down would obviously be the ideal scenario but if you can't it'll really probably come down to Parsons/Pitts and maybe a Rousseau.

It's really a load of horse shit that each time we get a top 10 pick there's never a no-brainer DL sitting there for us but it is what it is.

Yea I don't think it'd really be worth it but it's getting to the point where he might be the clear BPA given how weak the defensive prospects in the top 10 are.

You basically don't have any top 10 worthy DL except maybe a guy like Rousseau or Jaelan Phillips but they're both one year wonders to an extent, Surtain is meh and Farley is fine but sat out a year and isn't a bona fide top 10 guy. Parsons is the only one I feel really good about but he also sat out the year and is an off-ball LB.

If Pitts runs like a 4.5 at 6-6, 240 I think it'd be hard to argue he isn't the BPA except for maybe Parsons.
Considering what we have got out of TE with both Jarwin and Dak out, I’d be totally fine with trading down to 9 or 10, collecting a second, and grabbing someone like Rousseau or even Pitts. The knee jerk offensively is too many resources committed, but all we all know how quickly the personnel landscape can change in the NFL. Cooper has a palatable contract to walk away from in a year or so, plus Gallup’s rookie deal expiring. Pitts is the the sort of deal where we are getting ahead of the curve, but defensively there has to be resources allocated. And with our FA track record, I can’t help but feel our only real hope is the draft.

Which sucks considering what we need and who is projected commensurate to our draft position.

I agree, I don't want to go TE in the top 10 at all, especially with Schultz looking like a serviceable starter, but you have to go where the talent takes you.

If we went out and actually made an impact signing or two for once in free agency I'd feel much better about it. Like, if we signed DJ Jones at DT and John Johnson at safety, two guys who shouldn't have exorbitant prices, I'd feel a whole lot better going with Pitts as a pure BPA play.

Rankings are in

#1 Bama vs #4 Notre Dame

#2 Clemson vs #3 Ohio State

Personally I take more issue with Ohio State getting in than I do with Notre Dame. You play 6 games while everyone else played 10 or more. That's bull shit. I don't ever want to hear the committee reference the need to see more data points ever again. Because clearly it doesn't matter. Just admit you want the teams who will draw a bigger tv audience.

ND opens as a 3 touchdown underdog.

in the college football playoffs.

Stupid.

How many times does ND need to show they don’t belong before the committee realizes they don’t belong?

@midswat what's the deal, bro? If you cheat you should at least win.

people are saying we started this as an attempt to fire our coach for cause, or to at least reduce the buy out. They just signed him to an extension this past offseason. Tennessee gonna Tennessee.

But it’s so dumb. uGA and Alabama signs 8 5 star kids each year and almost all of them take to IG posting pics of new Dodge Chargers or other new cars.

everyone in the world knows Clemson uses a church to funnel payments to players. But 3-7 Tennessee is being looked at? Uh, okay

Then why don’t they turn it in to the NCAA.

Looks like Sonny Cumbie is coming home to Lbk. Look for us to win the Big 12 next season.

Chris Thomsen might come with him from FSU. Now that is interesting.

More than 850 transfers have hit the portal so far this year. That is a crap ton of transfers.

Interesting, why does he want to leave TCU for the same job at Tech? Money?
A lot of Tech folks recruited him hard. Word is that Patterson handcuffed him the offense. Not sure about the money because TCU was paying him north of 1 million. I’m sure that our AD and Wells is pulling out all of the stops. There are a lot of pissed boosters and so forth that Wells wasn’t fired. Kirby seems to have hitched his wagon to Wells for better or worse. One thing I’ll say, Kirby doesn’t GAF what anyone had to say no matter what their pull is.
