And yet the Packers have no problem cutting Jordy Nelson because he will count 12 mil against the cap. Even though he is only a year removed from a 1257 yard season.
This is why we never have money for free agency. We are too busy clinging to contracts on guys like Dez and Witten who are past their prime.
Witten is another problem that will go unaddressed. He's now a liability in the passing game.

I know. He is a good dude so he doesn't get brought up as much but god he absolutely kills our offense at times. And while not a crazy number he is still going to cost us 7 mil against the cap.

We’re gonna have to forcibly remove him.

It's so depressing scrolling through the latest signings on ESPN, looking at all the players changing teams, down at the bottom is the Cowboys star with the only activity listed, Scandrick asks for release.

That’s why this team will never do anything with this idiot staff. Roster is set. They don’t think they need any help. Status quo again. Meanwhile everyone else is getting better.

I definitely miss the days when we would make a splash in free agency. I get it and understand why we don't but it's sort of like not opening any presents on Christmas.

Not true.

They actually know what they need to do, but are too constrained by bad contracts and frankly a lack of balls to do anything about it.

Why do you think they conveniently leak the things they do?

They know they can't do shit, but want to keep the impression out there that they are actually just cool and in control.

What comes off as smug and arrogant is really just fear. They are over their heads and they really are like a deer in the headlights.

They will just keep doing what they are doing right now and cross their fingers. Hope is a strategy with these dumb asses.

Remember, this is how we look while enjoying the financial benefits of not having huge money tied up in the QB position. This is what the benefit of having a 4th round QB on his rookie contract looks like.

Presumably we stand on the precipice of making Lawrence (among) the highest paid DE in the league, and Martin the highest paid guard? offensive lineman? in the league and every day we wait, the price goes up.

Mediocrity is expensive.

These free agency contracts are indeed terrible, if early reports are correct.

WRs can apparently name their price, now matter how average they’ve been in their careers.

That position is gong to get at least a five-ten pick bump in the draft, ala OL in 2013.

Those players deserve it if anyone does in today’s NFL. Dallas has more than its share of good, young players.

Dez is looking at what non-producing WRs are getting paid and praying we cut him.

No way he takes a pay cut.

It’s just the reality of the situation. Also, don’t be surprised if the restructure his ass on top of things.

It's the NFL's version of Musical Chairs Mediocrity. Teams draft good players but then cut them loose because they can't afford to keep them. Those players are in turn picked up by other teams who cut loose the players they can't afford to keep.

Teams that sign FAs to unreasonable or unrealistic contracts wind up dumping those FAs a year or two later. It's the reason most teams are bunched somewhere between 6 - 9 or 9 - 6 at the end of the season, with a whole bunch of 8 - 8 in between. Keeps the fan base interested up until the last three or four games of the season.

The Colts signed Denico Autry, so the list is down to three teams.
