Q: Reference to The Triplets and 90s
Jerruh: It's convenient and pleasant to make that analogy. But this is today and NFL's a passing league. It wasn't hard to see, touch and feel what it means to have a dominant rushing game. I do think of balance with The 90s Triplets and that OL that we had inherited when we first got here. Point is, different rules, different game, but if balance still compromises defense, this is an analogy of what we can expect. For a big man, Z has real burst. A real gear when he sees a hole. With lateral ability. Those combinations will complement what we're all about. It'll remind you of what we did with Demarco Murray. With Jason Garrett, he said that in the 90s, when Garrett was going in as QB, Garrett would look over to Emmitt and say to get ready cuz you're gonna get lots of passes out the backfield. Can say the same with Romo to Z
Jerruh: Stephen's had a long night on the phone talking trade.
Stephen: Made a big push to get back into 1st but didn't get it. We worked hard and had a player in mind that we liked, but didn't work. A little disappointing but sometimes that'll work out for the best.
Q:
Stephen: That's the hard part. If we moved up, we'd leave a couple good players on the board that can help us now to win. Was the player worth two players? On our board, we still have several players we're looking for.
Jerruh: For the record, yes, we are talking about Paxton Lynch.
~laughter~
Stephen: About mid-1st round, that's when we started to think Paxton would be a possibility.
Stephen: QB is still something we're always looking at. With Paxton gone, we'll re-evaluate with remaining QB talent. We're not out, but we're not necessarily in. Won't rule out anything.
Q: Have to draft defense at 34?
Stephen: Not totally, but want to help out defense. But even with RB, it helps out defense. We'd all like to improve on our defense. We're getting injured players back like Romo, Dez, Dunbar. Z is big. We're not necessarily focused on defense - could be several different positions.
Garrett: Our OL has allowed us to play a certain style. We have made significant investments in our personnel. Thought we did well running last year and drafting Z enhances that style of play. Compared to Emmitt, Emitt's great ability was durability year in and year out. Z is built like that to help control the game. helps the defense and the football team.
