I think they tried to do too much too soon. To me, it looks like Nolan wanted to get to more 3-4 alignments as fast as he could, but you can't reinvent a defense overnight, and certainly not in a year with essentially no offseason to do it. From everything I'm reading, they're quickly realizing...
