I think this is what separates Romo from Dak and it's why I give him the slight edge.

Dak basically only had 3 years with a non-Garrett coach, so far at least. 2020 and 2024 he missed significant time with injuries, so that leaves 2021-23. The defense completely shit the bed in both 2021 and 2023, Dak didn't help, but he was put in the same position that Romo was many times...

Everything is almost exactly the same between them in terms of accomplishments, stats, how far they've went in the playoffs, having superstar skill position talent at various times, up and down defenses, so on and so forth. We can quibble about this defense vs. that defense or 2014 Murray vs...

Good, I hope it gives them an extended look at a guy like Thomas who I'm hoping might be able to replace him in the next year or two.

Yep, and I think we're going to see a lot of that in the running game. There has to be more creativity of course, but that particular wrinkle is definitely an important piece to a more modern running game scheme.

I think Romo was better, but like the supporting cast argument I think it's mostly negligible. Both have suffered from more or less the same circumstances, both personnel-wise and in terms of ownership of course.

I generally agree, although if the run game scheme is close to what I saw in Arizona (and based on what I've seen in the few cut-up's so far it will be) going 2 TE or 1 TE/1 FB will make more sense in certain situations. I say that because I think we're going to see a lot of TE's in motion...

I heard that also about Spann-Ford, I'll be curious to see what it looks like in the preseason. He might be our best blocking TE so if he can just be passable in the passing game I could easily see him being our TE2 this year and maybe even the starter next year.

I heard that too, and I think I've seen that improvement at times as well, but getting beaten so cleanly on almost a daily basis (and only within videos that are about 20 minutes and maybe 20-25 reps per day) is not a great sign. He's seemed fine against Turner, maybe against Kneeland (although...

Our defense for the first half of last year, as well as in 2020 were just as bad. Dak got hurt both of those years but still. I think the differences are negligible, both have had great OL's at times, both have had HoF caliber weapons at times, both have had defenses that have generally been up...

I don't think so, their supporting casts have been remarkably similar, all the way down to having roughly one year with the all-time sort of OL that we had (Romo in 2014 and Dak in 2016). Neither has had an elite defense that has truly shown up in the playoffs except for maybe 2009 (lost at...

Guyton looks like he's getting beat clean pretty consistently by any of our decent edge rushers (Fowler, Eze, etc.), he seems to be fine against the shittier types like Turner who might not even make the roster, but he looks like he hasn't improved at all. Small sample, so we'll see what he...

He was a huge steal where we got him, legitimate top 25ish talent in the draft. Some random tweets sure won't convince me of anything but I was already of the opinion that he would be our best second round pick since...Lawrence? Maybe further back even.

There is absolutely no chance he's having any sort of meaningful health issue.

Carter, yes, Davis, no, in my opinion. But Carter was a guy who was a no-brainer top 3-5 type who dropped because of some vague off-field stuff, and of course right into the Eagles laps. If you look at the elite DT's across the league almost all of them were top 20 picks, very few guys fall...

Davis is a bit player, their defense took off because of Fangio primarily. The talent was there in spots but Fangio is what really lit the fuse, plus the fact that they hit on two immediate starting CB's in the draft. But now that they lost two of their top three pass-rushers from last year I...

I saw that too, Schottenheimer has mentioned over and over how they want to play with more tempo and more no-huddle, so I think that's going to be a real thing. That was a huge part of what Washington did last year to make things easier for Daniels.

When it comes to players my only real takeaways from these TC snippets and videos are two-fold: 1. when guys are getting reps in interesting spots (i.e. Nathan Thomas at LT with the 2's) and 2. when you hear the same thing being reported over and over (i.e. player X is consistently getting...

I'd also argue that you can't read anything into run plays in particular in this setting. There's no live tackling and it's impossible to tell how short or long a run would've been. The players are coached to basically keep running almost all the way to the end zone even though they would've...
