I think Jerry does have a love affair for Kellen Moore and it cuts McCarthy off at the balls.

I wonder. Maybe we'll see this off-season.

If it's me and I'm McCarthy, I can't live with the way things went.

If it's working that's one thing, but if things aren't working I'm wanting to insert myself pretty heavily. I'm not hinging my job and future on someone else doing a job I think I can do better.

I believe he absolutely wants to. He constantly brings it up.
He gets asked about it a lot. I watch most of the press conferences and I don't recall too many instances where he brings it up voluntarily without specifically being asked.

McCarthy made it pretty clear from the day one that he didn't want to call plays and wanted Moore. Now we can argue if that's a Jerry move or a McCarthy move, but I've seen nothing from Mike that tells me he wants to be calling the offense. Bryan Broaddus has been pretty steadfast in his belief that that Mike could have, and should have, stepped in to take over the offense weeks ago and has chosen not to.

And if Wilson comes up with that catch on fourth down we win the game. Tough catch, no question about it but shit we see receivers make those crazy catches all the time against us. And no that's not a defense of Dak, it was a ball off the mark, mostly because he was running for his life yet again. But that's a play with good protection that should have been an easy TD.
This is us. Always just enough imprecision.

If I'm going with my gut I think Jerry would have never allowed it. It would be essentially a demotion for his golden child Moore. I don't even hate Moore but the guy is inexperienced and maybe not ready for the responsibility of the offense. But again, this is the dysfunction you get with Jerry. His head coach can't actually run the team the way he wants. No Dallas coach could except maybe Parcells who burned out quickly because he fought back against Jerry.

Yep. If I'm McCarthy I'm putting out the word to all my buddies around the league that Moore is amazing and should be hired immediately.

Maybe. It's all conjecture. But McCarthy appears to have had carte blanche to do pretty much whatever he wants with the coaching staff thus far. While I do agree Jerry probably really likes Moore, I believe he ultimately hired McCarthy based on his offensive background and likely thinking he was getting another Andy Reid in KC situation. If he was steadfast in wanting to call the plays, I believe he would be. Remember he came in here touting over and over about the analytics, how he spent months on film study, watching every minute of every NFL game to revamp his schemes and offense, blah blah blah. He was going to reinvent himself as a coach. Jerry bought it hook line and sinker, and McCarthy basically admitted it was bullshit at his introductory press conference.

There was a talking point parroted over and over when McCarthy took over that they wanted to keep the offense in place to help Prescott. I believe that is a McCarthy decision. I get a sense (again from Broaddus and others who cover the team) that McCarthy is not a "first one in, last one out" coach. I don't think he wants to put in the work at this point required to run the offense himself. He would rather delegate the task and attempt to "manage" the game.

Dak can make the throws…he made several really nice throws yesterday. What kills him is the inconsistency.
I mean really, the fact you and your defense were outplayed by Jimmy G, and even worse I don’t think Jimmy really had much pressure on him yesterday at all.
When does this FO wake up and understand they need solid players along the DL to do something in todays NFL.?
That’s why Jerry Jones can go fuck himself with a 12” dildo with “I’m not a GM football man” written on it. He’s not a football man, never will be.
That's really it, consistency. Dak has not shown that rifle arm that hits a tight window with consistency. He steps into them with his whole body.

Interior DL is critical, and I think they are starting to get it based on some recent draft picks. They have to make it a priority. All the other pass rushers' jobs become easier after finding that dominant 3T and immovable/sometimes penetrating NT/1T.

Jimmy wasn't sacked, but a lot of that was his OC protecting him. What hurt was the scripted drives to start the game-- and NO DALLAS RESPONSE OFFENSIVELY. No passion or any deep understanding of the intensity the playoffs demand. No plan of attack, targeting the 49er's own weaknesses. Just a passionless and befuddled three and out.

Quinn was surprised, but he adjusted. If Dak doesn't give them a short field, they score 16 points total.

But the offense could only get something going after being down two TDs with the defense letting off-- sound familiar? That's Dak's playbook whether it's Garrett, Moore, MM... doesn't matter. Green Bay two years ago, Chicago two years ago, Cleveland, and probably a good ten other games it sickens me to have to think about.

When the defense is intensely pressing when setting the tone, Dak's safe options disappear and he gets nervous feet. He's fine once they let off the gas a bit.

Overall, I think biggest story yesterday was 49ers defense successfully pressuring Prescott with just their front four.

Even the 49ers offensive fast start was only 13-0 and not nearly insurmountable.

Getting a stud guard, maybe another OT, is more important than upgrading Zeke or resigning Gallup/Schultz.

Garrett is awful.

Mike McCarthy just does some dumb shit. There is a difference but that doesn't mean I'm entirely happy with either. I keep McCarthy and I may let him take over play calling next year if Moore walks. Let McCarthy live or die next year at his own hands.
I didn't say they were equivalent coaches, but the same "he's not doing anything, no wonder the refs don't respect him," arguments have been heard about both.

Yawn.
