Just curious, if -- big if -- they're actually doing this to absorb Dak's huge cap hit this year and then move on from him, how many will give them a pass for this ridiculous offseason?

I know I will.

This is what ten years of Garrett getting pass does to a person. The Old Choco would be a little more upset. Fuck them. They had a chance to manage Prescott’s rookie deal and leverage it. They failed. They are going to peddle this shit now? Nope. Fuck them.

What?

I'm just saying that if they're doing it to eat that cap hit and move on, it will at least make sense. And I will give them credit for at least accepting that they need to move on from Dak instead of failing to admit he can't do it. Yes, that would be an improvement over clinging to one of their own forever like they normally do.

That said, I fully expect them to give Dak an extension and none of this to make sense (aside from being cheap).

I've been saying trade him all offseason. If they actually did that and got a draft haul I'd say job well done. It's what needs to be done.

It's not happening, dude.
I know it's not happening. I've also been saying that. They won't even get a contract done. And then next offseason we will have the choice of bending over on an extension or him walking for a third round comp pick. Both awful options. We will lose all leverage next offseason.

They're not, but if we humor the ridiculous for a second, no I wouldn't give them a pass.

If you are moving on from your expensive underachieving QB, this isn't how you do it.

Of course you and c-rock are right. Even if they're trying to do the right thing, they're doing it the wrong way. :lol :doh

I disagree. If they decided that they need to move on from Dak, they shouldn't just sit in their hands and put the team in limbo for a year which delays any sort of rebuild (because Dak raises the team's floor), makes it impossible to evaluate the QB investment they made in Lance, and ruins any chance they get proper compensation for what amounts to at least at top 12 or so QB.

If they wanted to move on from Dak, do it now, get some proper compensation windfall for him, evaluate Lance, and accumulate draft picks to properly rebuild. You don't wait a year.

If they have an actual plan, I'll have to see the plan first, but maybe.

But they don't have a plan.

The 2024 Cowboys Free Agency thread might be the most unnecessary thread ever created in DCC history.

Second post in the thread.

He could probably get like $8 billion selling the team. But I think he's too much like his dad to sell. The Joneses get off on the prestige of owning the Cowboys and are still gonna be filthy fuckin rich owing the team anyway.
Already 9.2 billion and the value keeps going up. They honestly could get closer to 20 billion

They've got the $ making factory on autopilot, prolly over $10 billion by now the way that figure has been multiplying over the last 15 years.
