Meh. I get it, I really do. But when was the last time the Rangers had a 3-time WS champion manager and a Front Office willing to spend on good pitching? Never? That's right.
Not saying they're a WS contender this year (they're likely not) but they absolutely have a good shot at winning 90+ games and a playoff series, and have a minor league system loaded with talent (probably top-5 in all of baseball). No reason to think they won't have a good shot at winning a title somewhere in the next 2-5 years.

I like your optimism, but I guess I have been beaten down and need to see more before I get excited.

Yeah, I don't think they're that good. The lineup can't compete with the best teams. But at least they finally got a couple of good pitchers so they can at least be competitive and not a laughingstock.

Not surprising. The Rays start has been amazing. It took 8 home games before they finally gave up a multi-run inning at home and at one point last week, they had more HRs on the season than runs given up.

Having deep pockets like the Yankees and Mets makes organizations lazy. They don't have to get creative or do nearly as much homework on players.

For pitchers, yes I agree that strikeouts are overrated.

The Braves have a young stud pitcher named Spencer Strider who rarely pitches past the 6th inning because his pitch count is always at or near 100 around the 6th.

I'd trade in a few less strikeouts for an extra inning or two.
