Are you sure it's Mayer and not Washington? When he was talking about Martellus being able to move to OT I thought that was where his mind was.
I had a similar thought which I mentioned in the first post, although Mayer is clearly the better receiver at this point while still a very good blocker.

But it could easily be Washington who has their eye because of his rare blocking ability, size and potential as a receiver.

I think it tells you Mayer is higher than Kincaid on our board. And yeah, I would think Mayer fits the description. But so do other TEs, that's all I'm saying.
Are the others on Mayer's level?

When we drafted Bennett, everyone was like "Think of all the end zone jump balls Tony will throw to him!" Welp.

Short arms and slow?

I'm sort of kidding but I do worry that while Mayer was productive a lot of his catches were contested. The NFL is bigger and faster and I worry that contested catches he is making will turn into PBUs.

Washington just worries me because we haven't seen much on the catching end. Is he going to develop from a 400 yard TE into a 900 yard guy or is he just going to be a great blocker and occasionally catch a ball.

Like I've said, if he is Marty B is he worth it? And I say judge him on his entire career and just not his time in Dallas. Very similar guys in my book. Given that we don't have Witten sitting atop the depth chart I'd say Washington is definitely worth a second round pick. But I struggle with first. I just don't know if Washington is capable of being a consistent weapon on offense. Not that he can't be but he has never really shown it which scares me some. There are definitely exciting traits though and that one hand snag at the Combine sort of shows you that his size could make him virtually uncoverable.

If McCarthey is honest about running then he very well could be worth the 26th pick.

His ass can move too, for his huge frame.

I pretty much agree with everything in this article, although Washington would probably be my last choice of the other guys mentioned. Wright will be gone but I'd be thrilled to take him if he's there, and I'd be very happy with either Mazi, Avila or McDonald.

McDonald in particular seems like a guy Quinn and the front office would love.

Yeah I mean my idea at that point would just to be go mostly 2 TE (I still have nightmares of Garrett swearing he will use 2 TEs) and 2 WR's. Solves the problem of our questionable WR depth after Cooks and Lamb. And with Ferguson and Washington presumably you've got some serious blocking ability. And hopefully with Lamb and Cooks on the outside capable of big plays it will keep passing lanes up for your TE's to make big plays. You have to figure a defense would shift a safety towards Cooks opening up the middle of the field for some Washington post ups.

I guess I'll say this now... the thing I'm most hoping for is a legit LG (before Saturday). A consolation would be a big fatty for the DL on day 2, someone like Siaki Ika (I believe one of his traits as being "immovable", so, yeah, sign me up)..

If we end up with Ika or Mazi I will be pretty happy

I have seen several models where the Northwestern kid is available.

Yes please.

I'd love to get a power guy at guard and a power guy at DT. Hell even if it's Saturday. Give me a Mafi or Jerrod Clark.

No chance, although I love him and would even argue that he's one of the 2-3 most likely guys to make the HOF out of this class. He just won't go as high as that projection would imply because he's most likely a OG.

He's a very similar prospect to Zack Martin, probably not quite as good of a tackle but not far off.
