That’s the whole thing- I believe just about every team in the playoffs had 2 interchangeable RBs who could keep the running game going-and fresh-which is what McCarthy is wanting to do. Teams like the Eagles and SF had 3 RBs.
Yeah, Dallas had 2, but Zeke wasn’t a threat except at the goal line, so I don’t include him in the conversation.
Dallas absolutely needs another 1-2 RBs to run the offense McCarthy wants to run. I don’t believe for a second McCarthy sits in a meeting and tells Jones that Zeke is fine and there’s no need for another 1-2 RBs on the roster. He’s seeing the same thing EVERYONE else sees.
Yeah I'm really hoping that McCarthy and the coaching staff as well as scouts can get through to Jerry on Zeke. I think all the advanced stats back this up, but Zeke literally gives you nothing about a street free agent RB. He gets you the minimal you can get from the blocking at any given time. There just is no reason to keep him around.

And the goal line stuff is nice but I think Zeke gets more credit than he should for running 1 yard into the endzone. If you give Pollard those same plays he ends up with similar results. And a different young RB probably would too. Maybe even better considering Zeke had no ability to break a tackle or make a guy miss. He was just solid at pushing a guy forward a little.

100%.

No doubt the coaches know. I think even Goof Son sees that Zeke is done. The one person who doesn't is Jerry.

Elliott gives the illusion of production because they make it that way. Just look at all those touchdowns.

Well yeah, give a RB a chance from the 1 yard line that many times and they too would have great TD numbers. It's not like his TD's are coming from 5 yards out or more. They are all right at the goal line. I know I was listening to something where they pulled the stats and in short yardage situations when Pollard did actually get a carry he was just as effective.

You or I could have scored most of those.

So if now it's only about winning... The money shouldn't matter now right?
Yea this asshole should be taking an extension similar to the deals Carr and Jones got right now, even slightly higher maybe (4/170ish), in order to help the team out.

If his dumbass insists on slow playing it and trying to twist the screws on the salary up into the mid to upper 40's per year I'd just let him play out the deal and tell him to fuck off at the end of it unless he miraculously turns into a bona fide top 5 QB over the next two years.

Or at the very least accept a longer term deal so that we can manipulate the cap hit easier.

Has to be one or the other, I don't really care which because I'm fine with opening up a 3 or so year window to theoretically go for it (Stephen lol's at this) with the understanding that we're going to have to eat a huge cap hit a few years down the line when we get rid of him eventually.

Yeah doesn't sound like he is but he got his pay day, getting every million he can now shouldn't be the priority. Not saying he should work for free but now is the time to look and go, I've got 160 mil banked for sure. Let's figure out how to get the team to push for a Superbowl so I cement my legacy.

160 mil?

More like 260 mil because whatever extension he gets, whether it's 4/150, 4/175 or 6/270 is going to have at least 100 million guaranteed if not more.

If this greedy asshole can't take $3-5M less per year with at least $250M+ guaranteed over his career he can fuck right off.

I'm just talking about the current contract. You know you're getting all of that if you sign an extension. Whatever you get on top of that is just a pride thing. You're not going to ever going to be anything but rich the rest of your life now.

Why on earth would we up his contract midway through his first extension? That’s ridiculous. Especially after his obscene pick ratio.

To open up cap space over the next 2-3 years while locking him in to what will be probably no more than like the 10th-12th highest paid QB salary once you get to 2025, 2026, etc.
